Just aswell theres not alot there apart from, Ryanair , Ryanair , Ryanair......
Don't forget Easyjet
Although seriously this is a common myth about STN
and is partially (!) unfounded. STN
has A LOT more than just FR
, however due to the sheer volume of FR
, it can often not feel that way, and also a lot of the slightly more interesting traffic comes during the hours of darkness.
It is however true, as Simon said, that STN
is totally dire for viewing, and even worse for photographers - at least spotters don't have to have completely unobstructed views with the sun behind! - it's my local airport and I favour airports much further afield! There are places to go, but they aren't the best and certainly aren't official areas. As for the chance of one being built - I'd say unlikely! It's a BAA airport, and the 2 busiest ones (LHR
) both had official areas which have since been closed, so the chances of them building one is slim, based on their track record. Maybe when STN
gets its expansion, they'll consider viewing areas, but I won't hold my breath!
