Metallica Aircraft

Wed Dec 08, 2004 3:53 am

I have a question for you all Metallica fans out here.

What kind of aircraft did Metallica use during the A Year and a half... movie?

I don't know myself. Too me it looks like an ATP, or is it?? reg would be appreciated too.

The only aircraft I found when I search for "Metallica" is this:

Not entirely sure but I think it might have been a Lear 35.

Are you talking about the turboprop that they used in the early 90's? Black with a snake graphic on the tail structure? I can't remember what it was, other than prior to Metallica, Motley Crue used it.

That ends today's heavy-metal fact lesson.  Laugh out loud

Cheers

Sulman: That's the one.

The snake is the same that is on the "Black Album".

The Motley Crue plane was a Gulfstream 1, there is a picture of it in the book Dirt

Quite possibly, Royal. I think it was Metallica themselves that mentioned it in the film, so it could be incorrect, sadly I lost the tape years ago.

A brief search hasn't turned up much, other than one of the band members mentioning that it was nothing fancy, and had nine seats!

Some interesting news about that G-I. Back in 1992 I worked in BHM as a lineman for Hangar One, and Motley Crue was in town for a concert. During the night, some feds and other officials reposessed the aircraft by removing both propellers! Needless to say, they were NOT pleased when they came back to learn that they weren't going anywhere on thier bird. The band had to go out on DL!
