Photos Any Good?

Sun Jan 02, 2005 11:37 am

I just bought a scanner today-an Epson RX600. I'm trying to figure out how to use it. I scanned a couple of pix....maybe I can submit them for upload. Here are my first two attempts. Are they any good? What can I do to improve them? I know that Airliners.net prides itself on it's 95% or thereabouts submitted picture rejection rate......but still. It's worth a try.

I think the info page says its more like a 75% rejection rate, but I'm not sure. But anyway, the pictures in their present form are probably not a.net quality. I can't tell for sure, though, since it appears that you have changed their size to fit the page, giving them an over-sharpened look. The second one especially looks extremely jagged.

I don't know about airliners.net, but you could put them on myaviation.net. Especially the western pacific one. Has historic significance since western pacific no longer fly.

Chances are it could get accepted here so long as the quality is decent. We give older shots a bit more slack. Make sure it is level and clean. Get rid of the dust spots etc... If you seriously want them uploaded, you will be serious about the processing.

Also, I have found that when scanning prints, the quality is better when you keep the size down. I would keep it right at 1024x680 or so. About the minimum size accepted.

Best,
Chad
