AMS Or CDG

Wed Jan 12, 2005 6:58 pm

Hi Guys, I am just about to book a day trip to either CDG or AMS and as I have never been to either airport was wondering which one you would recommend. Also it would be fantastic if someone could show me round at either venue after booking. (I am thinking of the 27th March).
Any good web-site links would also be appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.......... John

If you come to CDG, tell me a few weeks in advance, as I now live there.

As for which between AMS and CDG is the best ? Well, they are almost the same. AF aircraft most of the time (although not on the same c/s).

I would tend to say though that AMS offers more spotting possibilities (provided you rent a car).

Cheers,

Or a bicycle of course.  Laugh out loud
AMS is a great place for spotting and photography but enough has been said about it in the past.
Post again somewhere half March if you choose AMS, you might get lucky to find someone to tour you around.

Cars are not a necessity, although your options will shrink a lot if you don't have one. Still, you can get to 06/24 which is as good as anything MAN has to offer.

If you announce your arrival somewhat in advance chances are you will get someone to chauffeur you around. If it is in the weekend I might drop by.

Thanks guys, very kind. I think I will plump for AMS, just need a car to get round by the sound of it.

I highly recommend AMS myself. I've only driven past CDG myself.

But be prepared......
It's an absolutely massive airport spotter-wise. The distance required for coverage between the main spotting area and let's say 19R arrivals, is massive!!!

Being the second oldest international airport behind my own home airport, Sydney.... I expected the result of age: a small airport that the city built around (Trivia: Sydney while being the busiest airport in Australia is the smallest area-wise of any of the main cities in Australia).

I was wrong.... AMS is MASSIVE.
I think I've heard it said it's the largest in area.
