Air Canada Fake

Fri Jan 14, 2005 2:28 am

HI
I ran across this Photoshop fake (I hope) PIC of air Canada C-GAGB #307 and was wondering if any one has any ideal where and when this PIC was taken and what's really happen to this ship, where has it been retired to, or sold to, ect. I think air Canada retired/sold all of the 747 they were flying. And this 742 probably been gone a while

Hey,
That is a Photoshop fake, it has been discussed before but don't worry about it. As for C-GAGB I have no idea.

I94SOUTH- I take it you live in the detroit area... Although I-94 runs east/west..  Big grin

YEah, that is a pretty neat fake. I've heard everything from wind sheer to stress tests from ppl who thought it was real, but it's 100% fake..

I recall seeing that faked photo before.

If my memory is right the middle bit that exploded was 'cut and pasted' from a shot of an old 747 being used to test containers that might withstand bombs exploding inside of them in the cargo deck, so preserving the integrity of the fuselage - as tragically did not happen in the Lockerbie disaster.

I saw that picture a while ago but never knew if it was fake or not. Anyway, it's a very good photoshop, and at least I know what happened to it now.  Smile

BTW I wonder if anyone can find the original picture that the PS image was made out of. It would be cool to compare the two images.

Could be wrong but I think the exploding part of the picture is a frame from a high-speed film of a 747 fuselage being tested with an explosive while partially pressurized. It was sitting on the ground in the boneyard for the test.

Good fake but it looks absolutely nothing like the event it is supposed to depict.

Happiness is not seeing another trite Ste. Maarten photo all week long.

Yup I think it was a simulated reconstruction of the Lockerbie bombing, I don't think it was a test of any sort, just a reconstruction of the sort of blast that brung down the airliner. It was a small bomb, as far as I remember, but the slightest damage to the skin of the airliner and you end up with an explosive decompression and catastrophic loss of structural integrity.

Here's a picture of the Lockerbie test. It does look a lot like the fake above, although I don't think this is the picture the image was taken from:

I wonder what plane was wasted on that test? I just hate seeing any ship being scraped or destroyed.

It was probably a plane waiting to be scrapped anyway, so they decided to put it to good use by blowing it up.  Smile

it really is obviously fake. just look at the difference of the window dirt below every window from the air canada aircraft to the damaged part, the damaged part looks old because of the dirt build up underneath each window while the rest were clean.

That test was performed in the UK, at Kemble airfield, if my memory serves me correctly.
