Hi there,

I'll be there with Youri on this short trip. As we will be there on the weekend we thought it would be the occasion to meet some of you guys, hanging around some famous spots while enjoying our hobby.

I hope to catch some of you there for sure.

Cheers!

May well be at LHR next Saturday (provided it isn't awful weather - however it's CURRENTLY looking ok with high pressure predicted to build in!). Feel free to contact me via my profile if you want to arrange to meet up

Hey,

We're off to London tonight, routing YUL-YYZ-LHR (76P / 333).

We'll be spotting for almost the entire day on friday and the entire day on saturday. As far as we know it should be sunny for the weekend so hopefully we'll see some of you guys hanging around.

I'll be wearing a red jacket, maybe a black cap and Youri (crank) will be wearing a white and blue jacket. Most of the time we should be 4 of us, starring at BA 319s.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

So that's about it. We can't wait to be up there and taking pictures at LHR. Should be a lot of fun, and we really hope to catch some of you near the edges of the runways. We'll on our side look for some locals!

Cheers!

Weather looks good outside right now - in Luton anyway. Was hoping to hit up LHR either today or tomorrow, but today I am so sore from toting my bags from train to train yesterday. Will see what happens tomorrow.

We should be out there all day long tomorrow. We got some good pictures today but the clouds came in fast after some nice blue skies.

Hope to see some of you around!

Looks like the winds may switch to coming from the east tomorrow so 09R will be used for takeoffs.

I was going to come today, but weather didn't look too good, made other plans and now its sunny, typical! So I'm coming tomorrow (Sunday) now instead.

It looks like from the weather forecast that they'll be using the 09's? But later on in the day it looks like the wind is set to change a bit, so if they swap over and use the 27's how am I supposed to get up there? I would walk but lol its a little far....does that H30 bus from the Heathrow Bus Station, round the back of the 09's to Hatton Cross still run?

Mike.

Well the weather wasn't too bad today, at least it didn't rain!

Rather amusingly just as we were leaving for home I spotted Crank and AGD standing at the Mytle Ave field. I convinced Glenn to turn around so we could go say hello.

Luckily I got it right and it was the Canadians, Crank in the blue jacket and AGD in the Red one just like they said they would be in this thread, good stuff.

Sadly I didn't count on these two guys being French Canadian, lets just say our initial conversation was a little bit difficult but anyway, good seeing you lot!

Oh and nice to see you as well Simon and Dave,  Big grin Ta for the pics of me landing!

We also met Alex and Youri which was cool and shot with them for about an hour at Myrtle Avenue. Very nice to meet you guys had great fun! Will upload pic's to a.net as soon as my batt is recharged.

Look forward to speaking to you guys soon and have a good day tomorrow to all who is going. Btw watch out for the diper in the Myrtle field, Simon had to get changed :P

Alex, Yuri,

It was great meeting up with you guy's today, I hope you have enjoyed your stay at LHR. As promised here are some instructions on how to get to the 09 field (Please exscuse the terrible spelling and grammar, as the user didn't bother to check his post before posting!)

Taken from http://www.airliners.net/discussions/aviation_photography/read.main/157393/
Reply 9.

The Bus to Longford is the 81 which goes to Slough when you get to Longford there are two stops the 1st Near the Mc Donalds and the second after this which is the one you need for 09 Left landings once of the Bus walk towards the approaching aircraft until you reach a road traffic round about then turn left you will have to cross the road then walk under the approach lights and if its a weekend you may see people standing in the field.

I hope this helps,

Best regards and take care,
Simon

MYT332:
Hehe that's what I thought when you guys left Myrtle Avenue. How the hell did we have such a little discussion. It's my fourth time in London and it looks like I will never get used to British accent  Smile/happy/getting dizzy Anyway, it was nice meeting you and EZYAirbus. Hope next time we'll understand eachothers a little better hehe.

LHRman:
It was nice seeing you guys. It always fun when you're able to meet some locals at the airport you're visiting. Shame that they switched runways when we took bus 285, and it wasn't better in the hotel room as light was almost as gone and the planes were taxiing out of the runway whey before coming in front of our windows hehe. Hope to see some of your pictures online soon.

Airplanepics:
Thanks for the detailed information. Unfortunatly we'll have to leave around eleven since we have to check-in for our flight back to Montreal so we might consider the idea of spotting around the 27s so we can go back to the hotel more easily.

If they run 27s I sure hope you'll join us for our last hours in LHR so we can get some good pictures and have fun.

In any case, thanks for your help and it was very nice meeting you.

In and all a great day for spotting as Alex mentionned previously. Some nice aircrafts, some nice folks and some sun made this day a great one.

So I have to grab something to eat now...hope to catch some of you in the early morning tomorrow.

Cheers!

Alex

I guess I better ad my views. It was excellent just a shame we didn't meet up earlier. We kept on missing each other by about 30 minutes.
As dave said, a hude amount of good spots. Whoever didn's come missed out.
I imagine all these will get rejected:

Sun Jan 23, 2005 5:57 am

After a hiatus of around 2 weeks or so, I came back to LHR today!

Here's what I shot:

When I first arrived, I went to the end of runway 27R and shot some taxiway shots of a Sri Lankan A340, a VS 744, a QF 744, a UA 772, an AC 763, and a BWIA A340.

After a while, I went to Myrtle Avenue and shot these:
--some AA 772s (among my favourites to shoot; I shoot every one I see)
--a Kuwait Airways 772
--a PIA 743
--a Syrian Air 747SP (747SPs are my favourite rare planes to shoot)
--a Uzbekistan 763
--a Pulkovo Tu154
--an ANA Pokemon 744
--an Air China 744
--a Libyan Arab Airways (?) Airbus (with a gold striped colourscheme)
--and others I can't recall right off the bat.

Otherwise it was mostly European narrowbodies and boring BA flights one after another.

I was the one standing along the row of trees, wearing an off-white jacket with a grey hood peeking up out of it, and shooting with a Nikon N65 with an 80-200 lens, and carrying a blue camera bag around my neck.

As I was leaving around 3:00pm, planes suddenly started taking off over Myrtle Avenue!

Yes the winds were Easterly all day and then they waited until the 3 pm switch to change onto 09's. I was the small kid with the green parker jacket on standing in a large group.

I was there black jacket, LowePro pack on back, riding Scott mountain bike, that had been thrown in my car, for inter runway rides :O)

Shooting with a Canon 300D 75-300mm IS (USM)

Went between 27R (right up to rotate point), sat on the box by the Jnc right by the turn on to runway (27R) Good shots had there.

Back to 27L, by the missing sheet on the roadside fence, got asked to move by Plod, who said ppl worry about things stickin into fences??? go figure?

Got some of the Uzbeki'....... got insulted..."Oh a plane a plane" I would have told them to eff off if I didn't have my camera, didn't fancy having it nicked or kicked in.

Good day though, now have saddle sore :O)

Hey guys,

Back to Montreal now, we had a great fly back on AC865, C-GFUR.

Last morning at LHR was great, catching some departures from the place near the overpass to T4. It was really a highlight for us to catch that JAL Cargo 744F ER. So nice it was...and weather was awesome.

Thans you all for your help and hospitality. It was nice meeting some of you guys.

Cheers!

I do believe I saw you land then Throwman, I gave your plane the finger from Myrtle, I was getting very bored in that field. How bizarre you were on that one!?

I'll ask the guys that were with me if they actually shot you though.

It's a good job I was sitting on the other side of the aircraft then as I didn't see this (and I usually sit on the left side as well), as I would have jumped in my car and come and given you a damn good thrashing, lol.

If any of yer mates did have a photo, it'd be appreciated. I recently uploaded a nice piccy of an Iberia B744 taking off from TFN, and I got an email from the FO on the flight who like it very much. I was well chuffed.

Did anyone show up yesterday (Sunday 23 Jan)?

I arrived at an empty Myrtle Avenue at around 12:00 pm and started shooting takeoffs over Myrtle Avenue. It was a great opportunity to practice my takeoff shooting. I shot takeoff photos of these:
--AA 772
--BA 744
--TG 744
--VS 744
--VS A346

Soon, however, the wind shifted and from 1:00pm or so, the planes were landing on 27L, so I spent the rest of the time until 3:00 shooting approaches.
Soon, a number of other spotters showed up on the field. I shot these:
--AA 772
--PIA 742
--MH 744
--ANA 744 (standard cs)
--Air China A343
--BD Star Alliance A320(?)
--others that I can't remember off the bat

It was a beautiful, sunny, blustery day to shoot, much better weather than on Saturday.

Did anyone here take advantage of Sunday's sunny weather at LHR?
