Understanding The System (queue)

Tue Feb 08, 2005 3:55 am

2005-01-21: 8 photos 8 photos left for Johan

Correct me if I am wrong: Does it mean that a total of 128 pictures out of over 7000 have been screened in the last 5 days? It is just a question, so please don't shoot me!!!!

Vasco,

There has been much more than 128 pictures screened over the last few days. What you are seeing is that there are 650 photos that were uploaded from the 3rd that still have to be processed.

The other pictures that are in screening are pictures that have got priority for some reason or another.

Hope this helps,

Hi Vasco,

That means that there are 128 "Currently in Screening". I'm assuming passed first screening or what ever.

Cheers,

Vasco,

You have to think of photos submitted on those particular days. So in your example, the 2nd of Feb has been cleared of pictures submitted that day, with three left for Johan.

The 3rd of Feb however has 650 photos remaining that were submitted that day, 560 of them unscreened, leaving 90 actually pulled for screening.

What you don't see are the 'screened' figures, which would make it appear more logical. Once a photo is screened, it effectively vanishes from these figures.

The figure of 128 is the number of pictures in screening at the particular time you accessed the stats page.

Cheers

James

Just to show you that a huge amount of pictures get screened each day, here are the top-10 stats for the last 7 days. The first number is how many pictures that individual screened. I have truncated the usernames for obvious reasons.

Thanks for the insight Royal! Just to understand that, 2nd row is acceptances, 3rd left for johan and 4th rejections?

Thanks

Wow, so over 70 percent rejected. That's very interesting, and more or less on the 1-in-4 figure quoted on the upload page.

3rd row is a stat that isn't used, it is always zero

There are a total of 7707 photos from 1184 photographers waiting to be processed on the upload page (34 waiting for Johan and 7673 waiting for the screeners).

That is very understandable.  Big thumbs up

If you happen to photograph an incident and would like it to get onto the DB quickly. How do you go about trying to get a photograph screened before others i.e. priority screening.

Fergul: Send an email to screeners - @ - airliners.net. Make sure you include the registration of the aircraft (very important).

Tasmin

Thanks, I don't know if its worth send the e-mail. Nothing actually happened as such, as far as damage is concerned, but a 737 entered the runway, 16/34, in Dublin while an Airbus was forced to abort is final and you could see how close it was as the Airbus retracted its landing gear just at the threshold of 16/34 while the 737 was forced to exit the runway. I'm not 100% sure of how or why it happened as I only got second hand info.

I just have two photos of the planes in question at their second attempt to land and take off.

Fergul

I know it been posted but what is the e-mail address for the screeners.

Thanks  Big thumbs up

Sorry I've just seen the address  Nuts
