Air Force One Photo

Wed Feb 23, 2005 5:43 pm

What's the problem with taking a photo of the Airforce One in Brussels? Found this on a Belgian spotter site (http://www.luchtzak.be/postxf7115-0-240.html):
"Guys, if you went to the 8th floor at the BIAC to take pix, I recommend you not to post your pics... I got arrested by the cops today while I was there and sent to the police station They asked me a lot of questions, like where I got the info from and stuff like that... Fortunately, all I had to do was to format my memory card Too bad, I took great pics aswell"

Have you tried one of those image recovery tools? I don't want you to get arrested, but you could at least save them for yourself.

I so look forward to the day that a police officer or anyone tries to get me to delete my photos. Oh the laughter that would ensue!!

Phil, I am not sure that it is legal for someone to force you to delete files, etc. I certainly know that it's theft for anyone to take, or attempt to take, pictures, cards, film or hardware and that may include making you delete things both here in the UK and in the US. I don't know about anywhere else though.

I can't see what the objections to photographing Air Force One would be. I can certainly understand the tight security, but if people were in a public place, then what's the problem with photos?

This is a prohibited area.
On the other hand you can walk to that area without control.

As administarrtor of the luchtzak.be quoted above, I have deleted several messages related to spotters that went to prohibited areas to take pictures of Air Force One. I will not name these areas, but the trespassers will recognise them.

The administrators of Luchtzak.be do not condone such a behaviour and want to discourage it by all means. This attitude from a few will discredit all the spotters.

Spotters, please remain within the strict limits of legality. This will get you respect from the authorities and preserve your rights in the future.

Thank you to all of you for your co-operation.
