Help With Photo Request

Thu Feb 24, 2005 10:26 pm

I am wondering how much I should charge this guy, or whether I should charge him at all. After all, we do work for the same company. Anyway, here's the email I received.

Alexander,

I am writing for permission to use your photo on my website, on which I sell
high-end SureFire flashlights for aviation professionals.

I'm adding one additional light to the ones already on the site, and was looking
for a photo as a back-drop. I am also currently a United Pilot flying 747-400s.
Website is www.lumensflashlights.com

Nice shot! Thanks for your time,

Kurt

And the photo he wants is this:

By backdrop does he mean as signage at a trade show, or the background image on a web page?

I think he wants it as the background image on his site.

then I would say $200 would be too much (in my opinion). I would charge $75-150 depending on the details of the contract.

Of course I only had $2600 in image sales last year, so I might not be an expert. Don't forget to add sales tax  Sad

...only? My sales stats last year reached a grand total of Zero. At least some of your cam equip can be paid for through photo sales.
