Flug-Revue Photo Request Help

Fri Feb 25, 2005 4:28 am

Hello all,
I know there have been a lot of request helps here in the last few weeks, but I hope you find the time to help me too  Smile.

I just got an email from someone at Flug-Revue asking me to send a high-res version of one of my photos. I am sure this is a legitimate request, and I am more than happy to send it to them. However, as I am not very experienced in selling my photos, can someone please give me a hand? I do not know any more information other than he wants to use my photo. Any first ideas on possible prices? I already emailed him back, among other things requesting some more detailed info. Also, how does it usually work with respectable magazines? Do I send them the picture beforehand, and then send an invoice? Does anyone have a sample invoice I could use?

Any help is greatly appreciated. If you would rather do so, please email me over the contact function.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Sebastian

I had an offer from them once for the cover, and they immediately stated the fee they were willing to spend. They had more options to use for the cover, and in the end they didn't take my shot. I did send them my file, so if I ever see my picture in their magazine in the future (I DO check! Big grin), I will be very pissed.  Smile
Anyway, they pay standard amounts for picture use, depending on de size and location in the magazine. You should ask them.

Hi Ed,
Thanks for the reply. I was also told in this first email that I will be properly compensated, and I would be mentioned as the photographer. I did actually ask in my reply what the compensation would be, as well as some other questions regarding size and so on. I guess I will have to wait on that.

Is there anyone else that can help regarding the invoices and/or payment methods you use with any photo sales? Thanks,

Sebastian

In the past, FR had a standard rate of around 30 Euro per photo, which is more than Aero pays.

One of my photos got published in their february 2005 issue. I got 30 euros (it was just a small print of the photo) plus a free copy of this issue.
I send them the original unedited file and got some days later an email with a form which I had to fill out (address, bank account, etc..). The money was on my account about two weeks later.
