It's been years since I've attempted uploading to A.net because what I'd taken just didn't stand any chance of making it.
But there's a few photos I took last year that I think might have a chance. I haven't gotten any in the database since 1999 so I'm really hoping that at least a couple of these actually make it into the DB. I'd be thrilled to get one or two in, and if I get more than that I'll probably faint!
But, I'd like your thoughts on them. There's a few here that I just have a feeling won't get in, but a few that I'm really hoping for. The first of these should go into screening tomorrow or the day after, not sure. Would you be willing to share your thoughts on them and tell me what you think might be improved?
Thanks, I appreciate it as I'm really wanting to get some good shots in the DB. My 1999 shots are, to say the least, pathetic!
Here's the batch I uploaded on the 6th:
This one I really like. But I'm afraid they'll think I played with the image too much. Actually, there has been no editing to this photo at all, except the title of the jpg. My motive was a good tail shot of the new colours, and it was difficult finding a good position and a clean window. This was the best I could come up with.
This one I'm also very proud of, with one exception. I can see some window reflections up in the upper right corner of the image, and I'm pretty sure this photo would get turned down because of that. But I don't know how I can get rid of those reflections. SLC is terrible for window reflections, and I just decided to do the best I could to get a good shot otherwise. I like the colours on the plane, the reflections are nice and on my monitor everything looks sharp and clean. This photo also has no editing to it, came straight from the camera.
Motive: A good shot of AA MD-80 at the gate...and to re-do the terrible photo that got online in 1999 when the standards were low, seen here:

I'm afraid those reflections will prevent an otherwise good shot from getting on. Do they ever make exceptions with stuff like that...like...the rest of the photo is really good and so they let a reflection slide?
Didn't think so.
One of the best shots I've ever taken, in my eyes. This is one of them that I'm really hoping gets in. The weather and the setting sun made a pastel sky. This one's like a piece of art. There's something on the wing though, I can't tell whether that's sunlight or something reflecting on the airplane window. Whatever it is I hope it's not rejection-worthy.
This one from the same flight as the 3rd photo. A bit darker now, but I think I like this one a little better than photo 3. It also has another airliner in the image. I don't see much wrong with it...the sky below is hazy but it was that way to the eye too. What do you think?
I have several more photos similar to photo 3 and 4...and if these two get on then I'll try the rest of them.
This one I expect will be rejected...because of the way the sunlight in the sky turned out. There was construction at Concourse A that forced a bunch of airlines to move to Concourse B, and this was my only chance to photograph the scene, that morning.
I tried editing the photograph but nothing really fixed that white look in the sky. I think the planes turned out well though some in the background are a little soft. Do you think that because of the unique situation that it will get in?
That's the end of the first batch. Here's the second batch of 8 photos from the 7th.
I expect a rejection on this one. for the same reason as Photo 5. Motive was to show a busy concourse in the morning at SLC. Hope it wasn't a "bad" motive. I like the shot but I'm not expecting it to be accepted. But, what do you think?
Delta MD-90 interior. It's a good photo but I'm afraid it'll get badpeople because of the employee at the back of the plane. Or is that allowed? I was being stared at so i had to get the photo done people or not.
I actually hope this one gets in. the only problem I see is that the flash messed with the exit sign. I tried editing but it did no good, so i left it as it was.
Overview of MCO. Window was kind of dirty and I think that affected the shot. I tried to clean the window but it was that annoying plastic crap that peels on the window so i couldn't fix it. did the best i could, but...what do you think.
I don't think this one will be accepted. Took a photo inside SFO of the planes hanging from the ceiling.
Inside of SFO. Expecting a badpeople.
The most likely of the SFO shots to get in. Still don't have high hopes for it.
Finally, Photo 13:
I really want this one in the database. I think it's a fantastic shot. But there are two people who stayed on the plane. Now, I have seen photos added to the DB recently that had people in the cabin..so maybe it won't get rejected for that. At least I hope. What do you think? People are very hard to remove from cabin photos without some impatient stares from employees waiting for you to deplane!
Thoughts, comments, advice, is all appreciated. I expect only 1 or 2 of these will get in, but more likely 0, but I pray for more. Please don't bash me or my photos...I've been taking pics for a while but I could only afford a 4megapix and as far as post-processing, I'm no expert. I'm really trying. I use Paint Shop Pro, not photoshop, don't know how to use photoshop. But help and advice is appreciated. I havent even attempted to upload photos for a long time, so it's almost new to me right now.
Thanks guys I appreciate it.
