General Parking Ramp Closed At MSP

Thu Mar 17, 2005 8:07 pm

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone knows why the General parking ramp at MSP was closed yesterday (03-16-05) ? It was a beautiful day and having the day off from work I thought I would try and get some shots from the ramp, but all traffic was being diverted to short term parking.

Thanks,
Bill

Only two reasons to close a parking gargage at all is it was either full or they were doing maintenance (power cleaning, restriping, etc...)

Did you try parking in short term and walk over to long term? I shot from that garage numerous times while it was under construction on the weekends. No one ever bothered me...

I'm not sure which one is the "General". Although when I was there March 2-3 there were hundreds of cars - what did they do with all the cars?

Is "General" parking the one nearest to the terminal or the taller structure?

I should have said the Long term ramp. It is close to the terminal, above the short term parking. I haven't seen anything in the news, must have been maintenance. I did find this story about a ramp worker being arrested for DWI while diving on the tarmac though.

Hey there, the ramps have been filling up lately due to spring breakers. Take the train from 28th Ave in Bloomington or Fort Snelling in MPLS. For $3 you get a six hour pass on the train and you can leave your car at those lots all day long. All for the price of one hour in the long term ramp at MSP.
Best of luck at the airport, the weather can't get much worse.
