Sorry for this topic again. Need your comment about how I can improve my skills (both photography and Photoshop) on these rejections. Surely I have a lot more been rejected but just list three examples here:

I use an IBM laptop to process my pictures. Maybe I should really get a CRT monitor instead of any LCD? Thanks a lot for your comment and suggestion.

Are you using Auto Levels? The first two photos look as if that is the case. Sometimes that tool works great, but most of the time it is garbage. The photos look oversharpened to me.

Especially with the first photo, look at it as if you are really there rather than just viewing a shot on your screen. The colors and sharpening from the post processing take that shot to a over processed level.

A LCD should be fine for your editing, I have actually had a tougher time with a CRT when given a choice. Hope I helped a little.

Hi TJ

Thanks for the comment. But I'm not sure "as if you are really there" is an advantage or disadvantage.  Smile  Smile

Size in all the pics are down the normal 1024 x***
This should be a Badsize rejection in addition to the commented already.

All the best

Badsize? I used to submit 1024x *** but a photoG here suggested me to do it in 1000x*** because it's best for people with a 1024x768 screen resolution. Any thought?  Confused Confused

Not true. You can upload in 1024, as well as in 1000 wide. Not a problem for the screeners.

I'd agree with TJ here, I think you have over done the levels and the hue/saturation a bit.

I never use the auto levels, thats if you have. Be carefull when adjusting the hue as too much can look out of place. Usually around 10-15% is acceptable. You just want to bring the colors out a bit, but not too much. Also watch the jaggies on the logos as well. Do you use the duplicate layer technique and rub out the jaggies?

Also as Gary says, min size is 1024 x *** I use 1024 x 683 and try to keep the ratio 3:2.

The first and last shot are good and I like the third best, motive wise, if you want to you can send me one and I'll have a go at them and you can have a look at the process I use, but send me the original out of the camera.

Hope this helps

Hi Gary,

I'm not going to argue about the minimum size of photos to be uploaded. I may send in 1240 x *** or even bigger. I was informed by a friend who is also a famous photographer on Anet, to send in 1000 x *** for best viewing. If you say 1024 is minimum, I'll follow it without question. Thanks for reminding me so that I won't get a badsize rejection in the future.  Silly

Go for 1024 wide....as a general rule unless the pic has enough detail to show..

John

You can upload at what size you want but have a read of the upload FAQ for the min/max sizes.

Gary, at what size limit do the screeners get a size warning when screening an image?
