Opinions?

Wed Mar 30, 2005 11:34 pm

Yet another photo. I have motive this time. Had a sizeable full moon a few nights ago. I love the colours of the airport at night.
Opinions, suggestions, tips...?

Hello Goran,

The idea with the full moon is nice, but I'd guess it will be badmotive.
Most of the center of the picture is black with only some apron lights, not very appealing to the eye at all...
Maybe next time try with more of terminals / aircraft in frame if possible there?

So, if I had a photo, such as that one, with more of the centre filled, it would be less 'badmotive'?
Had to crop the aircraft a bit as it was parked right up against the gate and I had a massive building right under it and it wasn't very attractive to see.
I'm actually going for a tarmac tour in a week and a half so I'm hoping to get some good shots then.
Regards
Goran

The nice thing about the Moon is that it comes back about every four weeks. Learn from this one and try again. It's hard to get proper exposure because the Moon is lit by the Sun, and the foreground is lit by dim orange sodium lamps. You need to a lot of experimenting with exposure bracketing and post processing techniques.

Danny,
I couldn't get the entire Qantas 767 in the frame so I thought I'd just get the tail of it with a nice view of the airport at night with the moon coming up over the horizon. I've seen tail shots and airport shots with no particular focus on any one aircraft in the database so I combined the 2 together.
