Priority E-mail Bouncing

Mon Apr 18, 2005 5:17 am

Hi all,

I sent the screeners an E-mail for priority screening for 2 shots I took of the 21th anniversay livery on G-VFAB.

I was wondering why they hadn't been screened yet, until I just got an E-mail from MAILER - DAEMON @ airliners.net saying that my E-mail didn't get through.

Should I send it again or wait for the 1st one to arrive?

There have been LOADS of e-mail requests for priority screening of that one... When we get a request, we usually search the by registration so we tend to pick up any that are in the queue at the time and not just pictures from the person who sent the e-mail.

Not sure whether we've seen an e-mail from you Kas (can't remember - there were so many), but if your picture hasn't been processed yet I'm not sure how many (or even if) we're going to do any more of that subject as we already have coverage and a banner - in this case, it seems that the AMS photographers were the winners rather than those at LHR.

PS: I think that the bounce may be because there is a problem with just one crew member's e-mail

PS: I think that its usually safe to say that once the new banner is up on the front page (and especially where there is more than one picture linked to from the banner) then its already too late to send further "priority" requests

Thanks for the quick reply Andy! It gives a nice insight as to how "priorities" are handled.

I fully understand everything you wrote, although I'm kind of bummed down about it now. But hey, rules are rules, so I won't bother the screeners with more nagging after 1 more question  Smile

What was the deal then with all the LH 321 Retrojet photos? Or where they all in the Queue already (which is possible ofcourse  bouncy  ) ?

Kas,

The issue of how long we give special processing to a priority subject is a difficult one... How long do we continue to grant priority screening, especially given that linking extra shots to the banner is more work? The photos that are linked to from the news banner on the front page are presented newest uploads first, so if we carry on granting priority screening then those who were genuinely first to get us the pics slip down the page and ultimately loose out.

I'm not saying there will be no more priority screening of G-VFAB - there's no hard and fast rule, so it depends on the individual screeners who are working and whether they feel like pulling more pics of it out of the queue.

Fair point!  Smile

Thanks again for the explanation.
