My Lucky Day On Airliners.net!

Thu May 05, 2005 7:58 am

Lately I uploaded a few shots which I had reservations about - but thought it would be worth a try. Today was my lucky day. One was accepted through the normal screening process, and TWO were accepted by Johan - after waiting for him in the queue for maybe 6 hours!

We all complain when our "good" shots get shot down, and frankly I thought the second one would get bad dark. It's SO frustrating to shoot a pic at night, upload it, and get BAD DARK. But DO NOT STOP uploading! Sometimes dark shots (like Ryan's of last week) DO make it in, and everyone can enjoy them.

Also the MD-82 shot from the roof of the Harvey Hotel - I thought it had bad motive written all over it - but the screeners thought otherwise. I'm so glad they included it in the database.

The moral for my story is - no matter how many rejections you get (and I've had PLENTY), no matter how "dumb" the reasons are (I've not always agreed either), KEEP AT IT and you too will have good days here on airliners.net!

Thanks Screeners and Johan for making my day!

Drew

Johan has nothing to do with screening photos anymore, so ' Thanks Screeners and The Head Screeners ( who now handle appeals & "left for Johan" photos ) for making your day '

Good work.
cheers,
Florian

Congratulations my friend! Those are some nice pictures! I remember you asking around about that cockpit shot, so I am even more happy for you it got in! Keep those nice shots coming!

That MD-80 shot is cool. That approach path crosses right over my old neighborhood in Coppel.
And all at once the crowd begins to sing: Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same

Actually the screeners still have an option to "leave for Johan" difficult cases. The first two photos were deemed difficult and left for me to decide.

Thanks guys - and thank you Johan (as I originally stated)! I noticed one e-mail I received a few weeks ago was actually from "headscreeners" and these two e-mails today were from Johan.  bigthumbsup

Some good ones there Drew... The 737 is stunning !!!!

Its always nice to get a photo in the DB. But even more so when you think it may get rejected for artistic reasons.

I had a couple of contrails accepted yesterday. There always hard to get in so im a happy man also

Can anyone offer insight as to what reservations about this shot might have led to it being deemed "difficult"?

I have to agree with you Mark on that one, an absolute cracker of a shot and so are the others, 4 sec exposure held against the door!! Brilliant!

Well done Drew  bigthumbsup
