SNA/LAX Spotting Help Please!

Thu May 12, 2005 6:51 pm

Hello again,

In my last post I stated that I was going to meet up with my girlfriend in socal but as things normally go she's bailing out on me. So, instead I've decided to have a weekend of spotting fun. I'm arriving into SNA on Friday at 12:25. I'm planning on getting a hotel near the airport and will have a car at all times. Can anyone give directions from any hotel near the airport to the park where I can get shots like theses?;

Is this same spot able to pull off shots like these;

I plan on doing that most of Friday and well into Saturday with a break to spend time with my sis. Due to ticket prices and location I have decided to fly back out of LAX at 7. Well my source of transportation has some formal thing to do at 4 so I'm getting dropped off at LAX around 10/11am. Is Imperial Hill and Inn N Out the only spots? If so does anyone have directions for those as well?

Thank you all for your help with my recent attack of topics.

Hey Matt,
All those shots should be taken from the same place. For those shots you need to go from Main to Redhill Ave. and take that across the 405 to Airport Loop Drive. There are businesses there and the Runway is blocked by a fence with 8' high bushes but there is a hole in the fence for this shot.

You need to go towards the control tower to find the hole. There are a few other spots as well, but I might need to show you because I don't know the streets and they aren't on the map. I will be around this weekend, let me know. Also for LAX, those two spots are the most common, and I haven't heard or seen many other good ones there. Hope this helps.Here is a link to a small map. http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...ess=&city=Irvine&state=CA&zipcode=

Are these two at the same spot?

Just sent an e-mail your way!

Thanks,

Matt

The Southwest pic is about 1000' from the United 757 pic, aka the hole in the fence, very easy to get to from the first location. The AS pic is at the end of 19R, up in a tree, which is good because there is a clear view. I also got this shot from the tree. http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/big/ready/MattW-N775AS-5-6-05.jpg

I think that one is going to get shot down for Badquality in my opinion.

Thanks,
