Need Help: Dublin (DUB) Accomodation

Fri Jun 24, 2005 5:16 am

I am heading to DUB on August 16-18 (NRN-SNN-DUB; DUB-STN-NRN Big grin). I am not quite sure which hotel / b&b to book. Any pointers from the DUB locals? The accomodation should be within a reasonable distance to the airport (walking distance if there's no shuttle bus available).

Thanks in advance,

I stayed in a fantastic B&B a couple of years ago, on the Swords road, about a mile and a half from the airport. Really need a car to get to the good photography places though.

Try Fergul, he's a local. He should be able to give you some good pointers.

EDDL  wave

There are two hotels in Dublin Airport, Holiday Inn and Great Southern. They would be your best bet if you don't want to get a car. I will give you all the details later on the spotting locations. There are busses that run from Swords through the Airport to the City centre. There are also B&B's in the centre but can be pricey. Check out the hotels in the airport and see what they come up with, you might get some good deals as you are staying mid-week.

Hope this helps

A Tourist information centre at arrivals in DUB will help find a room and close to the airport. The service is really for PAX who have missed connections so will be guaranteed a room close to the airport.

I often travel to Dublin on business and always need to stay over at short notice and always use the airport hotel reservation service, often I club together with other PAX sharing a TAXI to the chosen hotel.

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot for your help! We have decided to stay close to the airport. 93 EUR / night for the Holiday Inn and 95 EUR / night for the Great Southern ... some great deals! Which is the better one?

Thank you,

Very little to differentiate.

The GSH probably, nearer too to the active runway, and taller, so ask for a room with a view on check in.

Another, further away option is the much cheaper Travelodge, near a roundabout to the N in the direction of Swords, - about 1 ml from where the airport road leaves the airport.

When I was in Dublin I stayed at the Travelodge which is just about a mile north of the airport and the rate was $70 Euro a night.Theres also a place to eat next to it.
