Interesting topic! I have often wondered about this subject. I've been uploading to MyAviation for quite some time, as I knew most of my shots weren't good enough for A.net, nor was my camera up to the task. I've been using it to hone my skills, and it seems to have been working, although it is a long and painful process!
You can also use MyAv to upload those good "extra" shots, or series, as well as a repository for all your "bad-doubles!" There really is a lot of good stuff there, it just takes longer to weed through some of the junk.
Now I mostly use it to post all of my Cleveland shots...good or even so-so. My goal was to just document a lot of stuff that came in here, even if the quality wasn't 100% I was chagrined at first when I saw the caliber of some of the other stuff that was getting posted there. ( Model airplanes, etc.) It made me feel like this was the best company I could keep, and THAT was a bit depressing! Since the option to post on both sites has been available on the upload page, it's gotten better.
I now have a new camera and 159 hard-won shots here at Airliners.net, and 1,092 on MyAviation. Ryan, I couldn't help but notice that my ID
at MyAv is immediately after yours!
Check them out if you want, a lot of CLE
shots, some scans, etc. You can actually see my development as a photographer and editor as you go through the years.
Just my two cents!
