The Hidden Gems Of Myaviation.net

Tue Jun 28, 2005 5:47 pm

Hello guys,

I was just browsing myaviation.net & was surprised how many fantastic photos are hidden there, barely noticed by the public. And these here are just air-to-air shots.

TS
Some people like me upload to both sites and tick accordingly on the upload page.
These shots could also be on Anet .
Just to give you an example all my accepted uploads to Anet are also on Myaviation.
The pics you have are certainly Gems

nice thread.....

there are a few really good photos here, i like the Emirates one especially, i looked on A.net for this image and it was not there, i can only imagine this image was uploaded to both? and then rejected for "bad centre" in Anet which is a shame.

Are there photog's out there that only upload to Myaviation?

If so we are going to miss a few of these gems, if i was a screener i would have rejected this for badcentre however i would have put some personal comments on for the photographer enabling him to re-upload the shot and get it accepted into Anet.

WHat would happen in a situation where someone submits a pic for Myaviation ONLY and its a spectacular shot.?
Would the screener ask for it to be placed in Anet also ?
Just Curious as some of these shots are great its a shame if they are not on Anet also.

Hi guys,

Just reading through this tread. Those photos are amazing. If only I could get some shots like that myself!

I used to only upload to MyAviation because I just could not get anything accepted here. I used to get very angry with not only the screeners (sorry guys! You all do a great job.) but with myself that I just couldn't cut it for A.net. Maybe some are feeling the same?? I dunno just a guess.

Still, to those who took them, Well done!! They are great.

I guess not, uploader can decide as the only person where he wants to upload his photo to. I am sure there are lots of genius photos in there!

Good thread TS!

No the a.net screeners won't do so. Its the photographers decision.

Not really difficult to get these pictures if you nick them off off of the corporate Airbus site, like two of these would-be photographers did!  Angry Angry Angry
They should be removed.
No offence to the other guys who did post their own pictures: they're great!

Those two above have now also been deleted, and I'll email that guy in a minute.

Images (not the large version I don't think) are checked to make sure they're aviation related, so sometimes images like those will slip through. Luckily we've got plenty of visitors to let us know when this happens Big grin

Yes, there are some gems over there, but, I usually give up looking as they are often hard to find. Having said that, I do admire the top uploader for the sheer quantity of his output over a relatively short period. I wonder if he's ever had any rejections?

I only see myaviation pics when someone links to them from this forum, as I seems impossible to use the search fields there with my browser Firefox.

OK here is a question for you all.
What would happen if a photo was taken by a photog and a website steals it then the photog is blamed for stealing the pic from the website .
Just being fair for all we know these guys that uploaded the emirates shot could have been the photog that took the shot ??
Maybe airbus asked to use the pic how are we to know ?

Hi Guys,

Interesting topic! I have often wondered about this subject. I've been uploading to MyAviation for quite some time, as I knew most of my shots weren't good enough for A.net, nor was my camera up to the task. I've been using it to hone my skills, and it seems to have been working, although it is a long and painful process!

You can also use MyAv to upload those good "extra" shots, or series, as well as a repository for all your "bad-doubles!" There really is a lot of good stuff there, it just takes longer to weed through some of the junk.

Now I mostly use it to post all of my Cleveland shots...good or even so-so. My goal was to just document a lot of stuff that came in here, even if the quality wasn't 100% I was chagrined at first when I saw the caliber of some of the other stuff that was getting posted there. ( Model airplanes, etc.) It made me feel like this was the best company I could keep, and THAT was a bit depressing! Since the option to post on both sites has been available on the upload page, it's gotten better.

I now have a new camera and 159 hard-won shots here at Airliners.net, and 1,092 on MyAviation. Ryan, I couldn't help but notice that my ID at MyAv is immediately after yours!

http://myaviation.net/?uid=775

Check them out if you want, a lot of CLE shots, some scans, etc. You can actually see my development as a photographer and editor as you go through the years.

Just my two cents!

Cheers,
Chuck  Smile

Hi Chuck and Ryan !

100% agree.
I like it to learn and to upload on Myaviation.net.
A few shots are good enough for a.net the other ones can be seen here.

Hope to see a lot more of you all on both sites !

I have posted several photos on myaviation.net because I am still striving to become an A.net photographer.

Thanks to a.net for throwing us amateurs a bone so we can see our photos online!

One thing I see with myav.net is that many photos with the most hits are photos of airline food. It may be just me, but I dont find a photo of a plate of spaghetti the least bit interesting. Can someone tell me why these photos get so many hits?

Thanks Mark and Werner! It's good to know other photogs who are working towards the ultimate goal of a better acceptance rate on A.net by practicing with MyAv. I think that it pays to practice... I look back on some of my earlier shots that I "couldn't believe" were rejected by A.net, and I have to laugh at myself! The more you do it, the more you see where you can improve, even if you already think you are perfect! rotfl

Sidewinder, thanks for the early morning laugh this gave me!! Maybe folks are just hungry when they're cruising the sites!?! Actually, those shots always seem to get good hits just like most interior shots. People just want to know what the inside looks like, and the armchair traveller in all of us wants to know what we'll be eating while were en-route!

Checked out your shots Werner...very nice!

Cheers guys, and thanks for the emotional support.  Smile

A lot of people upload them to MA.net and then use them in trip reports on the forum, which must generate a lot of hits...

I think its a shame that people would upload stolen pics on ma.net. I have a crap camera (only tried to upload on a.net 4 or 5 pics when I felt lucky  Wink ) but I spend a lot of time to take pics for ma.net, and it just sucks to know people don't upload their own work.

if anyone's interested...
http://myaviation.net/?uid=7842

I have 16 more pics that should be avilable in the next 2 or 3 days (uploaded them last Friday) and I will be uploading about 85 pics tomorrow  Smile
