Taking Pics In SXM (Maho Beach), Any Tips?

Wed Jul 06, 2005 11:06 am

Hey guys,

Just as the topic says... any pics regarding spotting at SXM? I'm going to St. Marteen on September 7th as part of a cruise I'm taking. I plan on spending the whole day at Maho Beach spotting. What's the best place to shoot from? Best Camera settings? I'll be using a simple Sony CyberShot P-73 (4.1 megapixels, 3X optical zoom).

Thanks a lot for your help,
Luis

Don't stand on a ladder. Big grin
Some people are like Slinkies. They bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

My suggestion... shoot from as far away as possible in order to capture the entire scene. A lot of people get caught up in being close to the action, but in reality, what has more effect? A close picture of the bottom of a plan or a picture showing the sand AND the plane?

There is a fine line between a picture and a photo. The latter seems to be disappearing.

Luis,

Wear a lot of sun protection lotion, order a cold Carib beer at the bar and enjoy the action.  bigthumbsup

Watch the photos in the db, look at them and think of the shots you like.
Try to capture that while you're there.

And remember, always try to get a new angle. Try to shoot something new.
Be different.

but most importantly.... Enjoy your visit!
