Upload These 2?

Thu Jul 07, 2005 5:59 pm

Not sure if they'll quite meet the quality standards of the database (particularly the first one) but I do want to upload:

I really like the first one, but its a bit "badcentered" for my taste... too much dead space on the right... Try a different crop. I'm not sure but can still suffer as badmotive... Maybe a screener can give it a go Big grin

The 2nd one looks nice, too  bigthumbsup

Just my 2 ct

Cheers

Eric I like the first one mate, but agree a bit off center but I would have thought above not to the right.

Take care

Must be seeking some attention..  biggrin

Eric, Am going with the 1st one but I think it needs a little tighter crop (top & right).. but that's just me!

Cheers

Hi Eric,

I have to say that I really like both shots - you have captured the beautiful lighting really well.

I would agree with both Tobi and Fergul about the cropping on the first. For me the photo is slightly unbalanced as it is, with too much space on the right. But to crop that out and balance with the left, you could also take a bit off the top too to preserve the aspect ratio. I think that will work really well.

I love the second one too - something about mountains in shots always tends to get my right finger clicking. I really hope that would not be assessed as too dark.

Good luck with them.

LOL, eric, losing your touch? Asking for advice.

Just kidding.
1st one is great, echoing the other comments by saying you need a tighter crop. 2nd one, I wouldn't upload it. But that's me. Nice lighting, quality, etc...but it's backlit.

Looking at it again in more detail I agree with Tobi, too much dead space on the right. Crop a bit more to the left and down.
Like Paul said, you've captured the light really well in the first shot, It's a cracking shot mate  bigthumbsup

Well done

Ok are you guys absolutely certain I should crop the 1st shot? I too thought about doing another crop but for some reason having it dead-centered didn't really do much for me. The way it is now the fuselage (just the fuse, not the engine included) is pretty dead centered horizontally, and something about that stabilizer fin filling up the above space kinda balanced the shot really well for me. Perhaps I should do another crop then show you guys?

I am Eric, if you take the distance from the engine to the edge and the nose to the edge, looks off to me mate, also the body is too low. Because you have cut the tail off it no longer has a role in centering, to me anyway, and now the body looks low.

Hope that helps.

Thoughts?

If you look in the number 2 engine, you can see the setting sun... how's that for a hit-grabbing comment?  Silly

I like number 2 better, but it is just a tad to dark imo. Number one is a pretty shot but seems like a very unflattering angle for that plane. It just seems awkward to me. I would have liked less of an oblique, but not quite a side on...

Number 2 as in the Citation X or as in the Citation 5?

Opinions... just like...well... you know!

I love both photos. The originals at the top of the post are best in my opinon.

When you crop in tighter on the Citation 5 the picture starts to feel cramped to me. The original has about the same amount of space from the nose to the right side of the frame as it does from the rear tip of the fuselage to the left of the frame. Yep... the original definitely "feels" better to me.

Of those two cessna citation 5 shots, my gut is telling me to go with the first crop, but I like the 2nd one as well. Long story short, I'm really confused.

Well I'm looking again and I still love both shots.

I am starting to doubt my initial view about that first image, but I think what you lose on looking a bit 'cramped' is gained by reducing any rejection for that factor. I agree that the angle could be better, but I also think the lighting - and the setting sun - makes up for such imperfections. I hope it is not considered too 'artistic'.

I know if they were my shots I would be uploading them both and to hell with the consequences. Shots like this are too good - and viewer friendly - not to upload for fear of a rejection.

Go for it and good luck.

The second one is a Citation X. That is the fastest business jet in the world. Look at those huge MD-90 looking engines. I love the second picture. The first one needs some cropping.
