Cloud And Storm Pix

Mon Aug 08, 2005 10:32 am

Here is a (unretouched) scan of a 35MM print I took back in 1999 or so of an Alaska MD80 on approach to LAX. I like pictures like this. Are there any others like it in the database?

LAX seems to be the place for these photos.

Gary

Ahhh, what an 'orrible image.

The days before I knew how to use a camera. Need to re-scan it I think.

I took this a while ago, thought it looked quite dramatic:

Great shots! Those clouds can really add a lot to a picture!

I have a question... I realise the above were added to the db quite some time ago, so I'm not going to start another round of you know what... But I recently had a pic rejected for baddistance with an (in my view) nicely coloured cloudy sky and a distant but identifiable airplane in it. On appeal it was rejected as well. The plane's size, by comparison, was somewhat larger than the one in James's pic, but smaller than the one in Granite's shot.

As a rule of thumb, what size would be acceptable these days? Probably something a screener could answer? Thanks in advance!

Photo's like these really dont stand a chance any more which is a pity as i quite like cloud backdrop shots.
That shot from Osaka is awesome and that is one mean CB thats building in the background.

May I repeat this question? I understand baddistance is a very valid rejection, but is there something like a guideline, in case of "cloudy shots" like the above?

Well my pic isn't from the ground but was taken while airborne. We were trying to get our home base ASAP due to a approaching cold front that was causing thunderstorms to pop up like popcorn.
