Are These Really That Bad?

Fri Aug 12, 2005 10:47 pm

I had the following pictures rejected today. The reason from the screener was:

"The aircraft pictured in these photos are too far in the distance.
In the future, try getting close to the aircraft or use more zoom."

Is it worth it to try and appeal either pic? Thanks.

Just crop a bit closer on both photos and re-upload (remember to make a comment 2 screeners that you have re-edited). And they might make it...

That all depends also on how high quality your photos are...

You see in your pictures there is alot of space around the outside of the aircraft

Whereas in mine it's nice and tight and the aircraft fills the frame.

First pic definitely and the second one is close. Could be saved maybe. I always err on the side of zooming in too much. If you get a really good shot and cut something off you have a better shot of it getting accepted than if you are too far away.

LOL Nik....I disagree... Wink I try to treat a shot like a haircut.... You can always take more off, but putting some back on well.....you know how that goes!

That Westjet shot is very nice - you may be able to salvage that. The proportion of the windsock mast made me double-take - I wondered what a 737 was doing taxiing across a golf course.
It takes a big man to admit they are wrong, and I am not a big man.

Madjones,
Must say I like your pic's. Especially the Westjet.  bigthumbsup
I tend to like it when there's a little "enviroment" in a picture.

Regarding the UA, I think it would be fair to say it's just a little bit too much "air" in it. It's only blue(ish) sky and that doesn't really contribute to the picture, as a whole. Had there been a monstrous CB behind the 737 however, then the situation probably would've been somewhat different.  Wink

But, what I think doesn't mean squat to the screeners, so you'll just have to go with the flow, and tighten up the crop on them pic's.
Personally I hate clipping the wings off an aircraft, even if it's only on a picture. Takes the grace away, if you ask me.  Sad
In thrust I trust.

Nice shots man, I would say recrop them a little bit closer and pay attention to making sure that they are centered in the frame as they both are quite a bit off centered.

I would not say they are bad with that crop, always remember that just becasue this site rejects your pictures does not mean they are not 'good'. They just don't match the screening here.

Note: This post is no were meaning to put down the screening of this site, alot of people just get caught up with rejects and thing that there pictures are bad.

Reminds me of TUL...

Nice quality shots. As long as you have the originals and didn't already crop a lot on the rejected shots you should have no issues whatsoever IMO. What do you shoot with?

Take care,

Matt

Thanks a lot guys. I was starting to get a little frustrated with the rejections, but it now feels a better to know that at least they are appreciated by some! I understand the quality levels of A-Net and have no problems with it at all, and the feedback from you guys is what will actually help people improve their photos.

I have attached two (2) revisions of the WestJet picture, any feedback will be appreciated. In one I have cropped the photo to include just the aircraft, and in the second I cropped close to the windsock (I prefer this for the aesthetics).

The first one. While it's a small size for some odd reason I can almost bet that the quality is good enough for a.net.

If you have a bigger size to show that'd be great!

Take care,

Matt
