So On Which Of Your Photos Are You Most Proud?

Wed Aug 17, 2005 12:39 am

Hello everyone,

A lot of photographers on a.net and even far more photos! Some of us (like me) have just started and have a few photos in the database. There are also photographers with more than 1000 photos! And of course everything between. Not every single photo might have its own particular story, but I wondered, on which of your photos are you most proud? And why you are?

Here is mine:

It is my latest accepted photo and, with the help of Tim de Groot, I haven't spent so much time on editing a photo as on this one. Also, it is my first photo of an airline from the USA, which is a very special country to me.

I am looking forward to see your "most proud ons"  Smile

many regards,

Martijn

PS, this post is thus not intended for boosting views on one of my photos.

Hi Martijn,

I'm most proud of this one right here. I mean after all it was just plain luck to catch them both like that, but still I really like it.

Hi all,

Very difficult but interesting question; probably two images stand out for me.

For me this photo :-

I am very proud of not because it is a stunning photo but it was taken at one of my favourite places, Paphos and it was the photo which took me to 2,000 photos on airliners.net and took me past 1 million views at the same time.

Events such as the last day of Concorde ops and the day I got the chance to go inside Concorde I am also proud of but my second image is this one :-

Just one of my images which means a lot to me and therefore am proud of

I think it would go to one my more recent photographs. I popped into Goodwood in the early evening thinking the aerodrome would be shut and there would be nothing flying. This Robinson was just leaving from Elite Helicopters. I was really pleased with the lighting.

I love the lighting, I love the stage of flight these two are in, and more importantly the airlines in both!

On the other hand I have a few shots that I'm also not afraid to show off, these being my recent Sigma 15mm Fisheye uploads! Big grin

Interesting thread...

It's no easy task to select the one I'm most proud of since I always try to upload pictures I like a lot...

Well these two come to mind for me...

Not that this picture is original, and I for sure didn't select it because it needed incredible photo skills. But I love London, especially this part of town with all those famous monuments. I've been there a few times, and after seeing all those "wing and London city centre" pictures in the database I told myself that I must get one as well! So it's really a personnal favorite!

Photo © Alex G.-Denicourt - Contrails Aviation Photography

Again nothing rare or extraordinary. But I like how sharp it turned out even if I had to crop quite a bit to get it as I wanted it. Also I do love the "impressive look" of the aircraft from that particular angle / framing, seeing the pilots looking so small compared to the size of the aircraft is really impressive for me...

Hope you like them as well!  Smile Cheers!

I'm proud on a lot of photos I took, so I don't really know...

This one, because even though the quality is not outstanding ( was taken with a Tamron 70-300 ), lots of people liked it a lot and couldn't believe this is real.

Evening,

I must say that I am proud of each and every one of my photos which have been accepted on airliners but at present I am particularly proud of the following:-

This photo came at the end of a great days photography on the other side of the world with a fantastic group of fellow photographers and the winters evening light was just stunning.

I am also proud of the following:-

It wasn't the easiest photo to get accepted and came after discussions within the screeners but I really love the fisheye effect.

For me, one of the most significant, and utterly gorgeous aircraft to ever grace the skies. Won the Schneider Trophy outright for Great Britain, and the fastest floatplane the world has ever known. Obviously also the predecessor of the legendary Supermarine Spitfire. Very difficult lighting conditions too. I have takebn better photographs, but this is my proudest moment:

Tough call, but I'll go with this one. Ken Sodergren, an airport operations guy at DFW, had put in virgin territory next to the runway and I caught a brand new jet zipping in from Denver.

It only has 310 views, but its still my favorite, partly because I love flying in the airplane pictured and partly because my wife is in the front seat. Also, the picture was an awful Fujichrome slide that I managed to make presentable, after a lot of work:

It took a lot of practise to get it. I only just managed to fit the aircraft into the frame (in fact, lost a bit of the horizontal stab but fortunately the screeners didn't mind).

Unfortunately a thunderstorm in far off Sweden followed by a nineteen hour power outage (do you remember that?) stuffed up the hit count on this one, but thems the breaks (and anyway, hits aren't that important, right?  Smile ).

I'm proud of this shot from 27 years ago because:
-it was only the second time I'd used a 35mm SLR and the first time taking aviation pictures
-I managed to properly guess the timing of the shot!

Also, pictures of live weapons firing are relatively rare on A.net. The only other examples I can think of are Jarda Spacek's Mi-24 shots and Mariusz Adamski's air-to-air Iskra images.

The above two photos I am proud because they are difficult to get and I love weather....

and the bottom two I had been trying to improve on for sometime and the right elements came together......

Proud ? not really or it should be on the ones I didn't make yet.
Some give satisfaction though.

These gave me at least satisfaction for 5 min. or so.

And the ones that gave me most satisfaction so far, at least half an hour.

Guys! Not that it probably interests you that much, but I am working in this tower shown in the previous post.

I have placed an arrow for the exact position.

Sorry for not knowing (do not work for Culture) but was Medy (=secretary of state) affected Willem??
