I Think I Have A Good One In The Works

Sat Aug 20, 2005 3:10 pm

Had some convective sigmets in the area south of DIA the other night with lots of lightning and I managed to catch some of it with the camera.

Have this shot waiting for the screeners to make a decision on it.

I know it breaks some rules but what do you guys think? Will it make it in or will it die a horrible death in the "baddistance" or "baddark" graveyards?

I think you bumped your tripod a couple of times there, unless the plane had some crazy turbulence!!
It's fun to catch lightning, but I don't think it's A.net material.

It's a very cool shot though. Would've been better if the shutter had been open a while longer but still very cool!

It's lightstreaks of an aircraft passing through thunderstorm. Not that hard to see.
what seems to be the officer, problem?

Tim,

Don't always see eye to eye with Gary  Smile but I do this time

I think for lightning shots it needs to be like...

Tim, I'm afraid you'll get "badtripod".
I think Eduard is right, the line that shows the flight path is not smooth.

However I think it is a very nice picture and I'm sure you'll catch the right one very soon.

Good luck,

Ander

Hey I've got one like that too...

oh wait...that was from after my heart surgery in June..  Wink

Cool effect Tim, but it does look like your tripod moved. I'd say the exposure was a bit long as well, as it appears slightly overexposed, unless that was done after in processing.

See, I was thinking the movement in the light trails was just the plane moving through some choppy air. I had the camera on a delay and was no where near it during the 30 seconds the shutter was open.

Oh well, if everyone hates this one, I will try again and get a good one of these soon... I still think its neat especially consdinering I took it from my balcony. I just figured with all the normal shots already in the db, something like this would be different enough that it could stand a chance to make it in.

Yes, one too many rejections!  Smile

Actually, just years of eating crap for food, coupled with some "bad cholesterol" genes! But $40,000 and a day in the hospital and all is well again. LET'S EAT!  Wink
