Clearification On Window View Photos.

Thu Aug 25, 2005 9:51 am

Hi,

I have a question, is there any standard set on window views photos. I 've seen some recent additions that appear to be taken from the same flight (correct me if I'm wrong). Nothing wrong with them as they are all good quality and the weather in Hong Kong was great. I am just wondering whether mulitple window views shots from same flight can be accepted and accomdated on A.net. Could screener help me out? I have a few nice ones on a L1011 recently enroute BKK to KUL with some nice view of airport terminal, city overfly etc....just to see what is the agreed standard before uploading and getting them rejected.

thanks

P.S I am not bagging or comparing any photographer in particular, only bringing an example for the sake of asking screener's opinion on an issue that I am not familiar with.

I've had multiple window view photos taken on the same flight accepted on several occasions. But I'm not a screener.

I personally have more wingview shots in my collection then standard photos as i don't go-to the airport very often, i tend to fly more, i however love window views they provide another perspective of the world but of course from the place we all love best- the air!

Had all of those been in the same upload batch, would all six have been accepted? They're all very nice shots but A.net has a double rule. Were each of the photos considered of enough interest to accept them all?

Some would say yes others would say no. This is the ugly part of a.net,

I don't even appeal/ask anymore. I think it's hard, with all due respect to the screeners, to have an agreed standard as the whole screening process is based on that of the screeners opinion...

The agreed standard is that the individual views must be considered on their own merits.

In Matt's examples, the two views look rather similar - the predominant motivation for both shots is the wing in the foreground. Thus the motivation for both shots is the same, and only one is acceptable.

In the images linked from the first post, the primary motivation seems to be the view on the ground, in the context of being a view from the aircraft (nicely framed with the aircraft wing to give context). That means each view can be considered on its own merits, and hence more than one may be considered acceptable.

Other acceptable multiple-images-per-flight scenarios may include a view from each side of the fuselage, a rich sunset shot, a clear airport overview, etc.

The key here is this: Strive to create a photographic "moment" with each shot - present people with a window on the world which is engaging and educational. Try to avoid the mindset where the rationale for an upload is simply to get as many shots as possible into the database.

Well said and thanks for the explanation!
