Too much empty space at the left and right edge of the picture. Do not appeal, correct the image, starting with the original file and try again. I also think this one is too soft.

Hi Matt

Agree with Jim. Needs some more cropping, brightness and sharpening.
As it is at the moment, an appeal would result in further rejection.

So why would you upload an unedited image? You are just asking for a rejection. It also looks pretty grainy on my screen.

Jetmatt777,

Have a look here:

http://www.btinternet.com/~victoryhall/workflow/

for ways to edit your photos for success here and at other aviation photography sites. Editing is essential!

All photos need some amount of processing. You can't upload an unprocessed photo.
Use the link above, read it carefully and give it another try.

Take care

You should also try to take your photos in a higher resolution. If that is as you said bare bones straight from the camera. e.g. With no size altering once it has been cropped to a.net size it is under the acceptable width..

Then I suggest you get yourself Photoshop Elements 3.0, about $85 in B&H. Buy loads of books on photoshop and use some of the workflows from this site.
You have a lot to learn but you will get there. You can always post some questions if you're not sure about anything but try and search the forum as a lot has been discussed before.

Jetmatt77,

I get the feeling you are new to this(?) so excuse the remarks on here.

To get photos on A.Net, all photos MUST go thru an editing process and GPHOTO has given you the link above. It is good to have a read thru.

A photo editing program is a must for this. I agree to get yourself a copy of PhotoShop Elements. Its a good starter and is hella cheaper than the full version of PhotoShop. Another good thing to do is have a good look at some pics that are already in the DB. From doing this, you will get an idea of different things to use like sharpness, colour, levels, cropping etc.

And more importantly, don't give up. It takes a bit of work to get photos up to the high standars on here so keep with it. We're here to help you.

Good luck,  bigthumbsup

Jetmatt777,

I tried editing it but the photo just lacks quality, the resolution is too low for things to work out. Sorry, I think you'll have to have another try.

I wouldn't even attempt a go at this original, it's too dark and grainy. I don't know what camer you have but here are a few tips that might help.
Don't make things difficult for yourself, shoot in good weather when you have good light. Set your camera to the lowest ISO, but I have found ISO 200 to be quite good on my 10D. Use file format Large and fine, set the aperture to about f8-f11. Start with some standard static side on shots, i.e. just at the start of the run for take off etc. It will help your processing a lot when you have a decent picture. PS Elements 3.0 is not expensive and is very good, 2.0 is also good and even cheaper. The workflows are linked above, read them and give it a try. I have written mine for Elements 2.0 & 3.0. Please don't think I or we are being un-helpfull, you won't learn unless you try it youself. Give it a go.

Take care
