Reg Of Hendon Bf 109

Sun Sep 18, 2005 10:54 pm

In this thread it was stated that a preserved aircraft should be uploaded under whatever registration it carries, even if it is a fake display reg, not the real reg it might have borne. This is course the precise opposite of the policy for active warbirds. As a result I was advised to upload the Bf 109 shot below under the werk number of 10639 even though other photos of this aircraft had been uploaded under its former civil registration G-USTV.

Now, however, the reg of my shot has been changed to G-USTV. Has the policy changed after all? I'm asking because the same situation may arise again. In particular, there's a P-51D at Hendon which bears a fake display reg but used to fly as N51RT. Should I use the latter if I upload any shots of it?

Its previous reg G-USTV was canx in 1998 so in theory it shouldnt have gone under that as its not active, but I guess the editors are trying to group all the pics under the same reg?

This is strange. The policy has not changed. The civil reg is not current anymore, so it's not a warbird, and it should be listed with its fake display reg.

I will check it out.

Aad.

Charles,

The problem of the shots of this Bf109 have now largely been solved. We are still looking into the actual serials vs. codes of WW2 Luftwaffe aircraft.

Quoting Kukkudrill (Thread starter):

N51RT is still current, which makes this a warbird. So this should be entered as N51RT, and the autocomplete feature will do the rest for you. Be sure to mark it as a Single engine prop, a warbird (not military!) and of course as preserved. With this being a warbird, the airline should be "Untitled".

Regards,

Aad.
