No idea, mate. I like it though.

I've started a similar thread on one of mine at the same time as you.

Somewhat incomprehensible!

I have no idea either.

Maybe the B&W??

Other than that, I dunno. Another great shot the DB misses out on.

Nice photo  Smile

I think it is indeed the black and white thing? Not really sure what the rules are for B&W photos.

Er, what's your motive for uploading b&w? If it was a DC-3 I could understand it, but a QF 747?

Why should only vintage aircraft be photographed in black and white? What's so bad about trying to be a little creative with modern aircraft? Why shouldn't we try and make an image a little bit different?
So to answer your question - simply because I can, because I want to and because there is no reason not to!

Absolutely... there are countless more examples in the db of mono photos taken after the advent of colour film, infact I would venture that ALL the mono shots in the db were taken after the advent of colour film.. why the sudden change in attitude??
If your camera sends text messages, that could explain why your photos are rubbish!

Did you shoot it in B&W? Or was it color and you removed it? Due to the lack of contrast, and flat appearance, I would guess the later.

No offense, but does desaturating an image make it "creative"? Do we gain anything from it being in B&W? Ever have KoolAid with out sugar?

Well, it appears that is your question, not ours, but you are right. You do have the right to upload like that, and the screeners have exercised theirs as well. Sorry, but that photo needs color.

Shot in colour, desaturated later.

And KoolAid is? Sounds like something you stick in your car to stop it overheating. I think in this case that it is making it creative. There are 70 other shots of EBT in the database, all in colour. I wanted my shot to be different.

I know these are my questions, and I asked myself them.

Like the other 70? Bollocks it does! Nothing would be gained by it being in colour, and IMO (because I saw the colour version) there would be something lost. Thanks for your reply though, and I'll take on board what you said about it being a bit flat. I'll have a rework and see what happens.

And KoolAid is?

Sorry, thought just about everyone has had KoolAid before. It is a flavored kids drink. Comes in powdered form, add water and sugar...yum. Forget the sugar....YUK!

I don't, Screeners didn't either by the looks of it. Santa Claus doesn't look right in B&W, that big red tail doesn't look good in gray.

Cottees Raspberry Cordial is my liquid sugar of choice, but thanks for clearing that up!

That's a really good point, and I agree with you that the big red doesn't look good in grey. Everything can look good in black and white though. I think that could be where I've gone wrong, I made a greyscale image rather than making a black and white image. I reworked it to make it a bit punchier, do you think it looks better? http://www.pbase.com/knighty/image/50017328

There are some photos that look right in B&W (And, yes, some of them are of modern aircraft). I really don't think that's one of them. Seeing the punchier version, it's better, but I'm still not sure what it accomplishes.

I would also say that the crop of the horizontal stabilizer and wing feels awkward, though I can't put my finger on why, and that might have been part of it (Though I'm not a screener).
