Fuji S3 Pro - Question

Wed Oct 12, 2005 3:20 pm

I was browsing dpreview's website when I came across the Fuji S3 Pro. There was something that caught my attention. In the specifications for the camera, it said that it has 12.3 million detectors, but only 6.1 million effective pixels. I am curious as to why there is such a big difference between the two. Also if anyone is interested Fuji has an offer on the S3:

It has 2 sensors for every pixel, a small and a big one. This gives the camera extra dynamic range. So it's not a true 12mpixel image.

http://www.fujifilm.com/JSP/fuji/epa...oProductS3.jsp?NavBarId=item778820 theres a link on the right there that explains SuperCCD technology.

It's a nice camera for weddings/portraits/macro that kind of stuff, I don't rate it for aviation as it is very slow and has some shutterlag still.
what seems to be the officer, problem?

Is it that bad Chris? I'm just curious,  Smile What time frame is the lag time.

Fergul, I can't find an exact figure. It's slower than my D70 was, and the shutter release button is like a spunge, theres no click to it. Hard to explain, if you try one you'll know instantly what I mean =)
