Comments On Capture 1?

Tue Oct 18, 2005 10:39 am

G'day all
JUst wondering if any of the users of Capture 1 have any comments on the software.I have been using ACR for a while now but after checking out the huge post on Capture 1 vs ACR it seems it wins hands down with far more detail in the conversions particularly in shadow and high detail areas.
But any comments on how easy it is to use, learn etc before i take the jump into the learning process.
I have got the trial for the LE version as i cant afford the Pro one after buying a new body so any comments from any users would be great.
Thanks
Darren

Hi Darren,

I use C1 pro and love it to bits! (At least for my nightshots.)

Well... and I found it rather 'easy' to use.

Go for it, you won't regret.

I use Capture One Pro 3.6 and I love it as well. The software is so easy to use I converted to shooting RAW exclusively. I'd HIGHLY reccommend it!

What is happening to our hobby??... Darren Howie hesitating to spend money on photography!!!  Big grin

Darren, be interested in your comments on C1LE, no way can I afford C1Pro at this time.
I've been using Breezebrowser for RAW conversion for some time and just recently installed Canon DPP v2.03 and Raw Shooter Essentials, not sure which of those I will be using going forward but I do know it won't be BB!!

Cheers

Chris
If your camera sends text messages, that could explain why your photos are rubbish!

Also use C1 Pro to convert all my shots. Very quick and makes nice conversions. I don't rate ACR at all.
what seems to be the officer, problem?

Its not a matter of hesitating its more that i dont have any more!!:D
Capture 1 works nicely after using it last night.
I had read a huge review of it done by some mad pixel peeper at DPP who proved without doubt how much extra detail is available in RAW over JPG and also that its availability is tied to your RAW program.
Capture 1 is the only one which could bring out detail in shadows etc that where simply not there when using ACR,BB and a host of other programs.
ACR was ok in a few areas but simply couldnt match C1 when it came to detail being retained.
His review went for over two months and about 10 pages of thread and his tests where all extremely detailed and very thorough.
He has no allegiance with any dealer etc he's just a pure pixel peeper at his best.
Here is the link if interested.

It makes for interesting reading if you are into the technical side of things.
