Close-up On Main-gears

Sun Oct 30, 2005 12:54 am

Hello,

This afternoon, i took this pic of B-18720 747-400 CHina Airlines Cargo, it´s the first time that i have done a close-up on the main-gears. Is this motive acceptable ?

Bravo Manu! Tout a fait acceptable, à mon avis ...

I am not a screener but with 2000+ photos in the database I'd say from my experience that both shots are maybe a bit dark. Try to brigten them up a little. Others than that they look fine to me with the close-up shot being the more interesting one of the two. A problem however could be that it does not show the entire main gear but much rather only the left side of the main gear. I am not 100% sure if this doesn't result in a "bad motiv". Maybe one of the screeners can clarify this.

Best regards,
Mike

I agree with Mike on #1. Bad motive as the RMG is missing or only partially visible. Even so, it is un-remarkable to me, but some will like it after it is corrected.

#2 is better, but still suffers from exposure issues, though I like the angle.

Personally I think with the far right main missing I think it'll get canned for badmotiv. It's also a bit on the dark side, and to me it looks awkward with the position of the gear centered, and not alot to look at outside the gear. Maybe if you'd have pushed the gear more toward the right side of the photo (using the same zoom, this would have also brought the missing main into the frame) and give space in the photo for the gear to sort of "move into."
And all at once the crowd begins to sing: Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same
