Airliners Magazine Nov/Dec P.52: Fake Pic?

Fri Nov 11, 2005 7:17 am

I was just looking at the latest (Nov/Dec 2005) issue of Airliners magazine and I saw what appears to be the most blatant fake pic I've ever seen on page 52. I wasn't able to scan it in, but if you take a look, see for yourself. The caption is describing what is supposed to be a US Airways A321 and a United 757 doing simultanous approaches on runways 28R and 28L, repectively, with a United 747 awaiting departure. The funny thing is, the 757 picture was pasted on top of the verticle stab of the 747. Take a look and see for yourselves! There also appears to be what looks like a Delta 757 is the far background on final to OAK runway 29.

I checked the picture as well and I think it's not doctored. When it's taken from further away, there isn't hardly any difference in size between the Object in the front and the one further in the back and then it the result can look strange and fabricated. The 747 is supposed to be behind the United 757 (in between the front and background runway) SO that's why the tail is behind the fuselage. Also both the seriousness of the magazine and the captions don't make a photoshop fake likely.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

The UA 747 is between the two runways. There is another photo of the same exact approach elsewhere in that article from a differant location.

I beleive both photos are actually on A.net as well, and the there was a discussion of how the same approaches were photographed from 2 differant locations. I recognized them when I first opened the article.

Ah, here we go:

I think Big Foot is blurry, Its not the photographers fault. Theres a large out of focus monster roaming the countryside

Why is it so hard to believe Delta having a 757 into OAK, I saw one there just this past summer, its not a fake picture.

Thanks....it looks more believable now. Somehow in the mgazine, it had a doctored look.

Jmc1975,

I opened the a.net pic on the large setting and the brightness around the 744 tail is much lighter than the pic in the magazine. Airliners Magazine has had darker settings from time to time in the years I've shot for them.

I have a couple of photos in that issue pgs 49 and 51 Canadian North! The photos look darker as well compared to the a.net ones I have posted.
