Which Filters

Sat Nov 12, 2005 10:14 am

I am considering of purchasing a number of items for my own Christmas Stocking.
I thought of filters.
Which ones are appropriate for aviation photography?
Thanks.

The only ones you need come with Photoshop.

I'd suggest a ND (Neutral density) filter and a polarizer.

I've never used filters in PS, is there a polarizer also?

Thanks

Jeff, didn't your signature used to read, "Shoot like photoshop doesn't exist"?

A polarizer basically. I rather prefer a real filter instead of touching things on PS.... Although I've used some features simulating a polarizer!

It did, and that is a rule to live by. That should also tell you a lot about what I think of filters. I have two types. Neutral Density and Circular Polarizer. They get used far more for non-av shots.

But shots that make money:

Photoshop is a necessity.

Nice shot and process Jeff.  bigthumbsup

Do you use the filters that come with PS or do you use plugins? Interested to know what filter you used on that shot Jeff.

Take care

Same thing as drivers saying "Drive like nuts, becuase hospitals exist" very bad way to look at photography IMHO......

LOL....in my opinion you don't know what the hell your talking about junior. You should approach every shot as if you won't get a chance to "fix" it later.

Hey thanks Fergul. No 3rd party pluggins used, just basic Photoshop stuff, Burn, Blur, Layer masks, Desaturate. That's about it.

That depends on what you are trying to achieve, in this instance yes you have to use everything in your power and PS to get your end result. A bride is not going to care what you did to get it, but that she looks like a million dollars and that she is the most beautifull woman on the planet on that day, it's her day and she deserves it. If that is what she want then she gets it, she is paying the bills. You have to remeber that Digital can be a bit flat too and PS in necessary.

Nice work Jeff, A bride would be very happy with that.

Take care
