LAS & LAX Spotting Locations

Fri Nov 18, 2005 12:21 pm

Hi guys-

I know this has been discussed over & over, but I ran a search & didn't come up w/ anything (wouldn't let me search the archived threads).

Anway, I'll be making some trips to LAS & LAX in the coming month & have never spotted at these airports. I already have the Sunset Blvd parking lot and In & Out Burger marked on my maps for LAS & LAX respectively. Are there any other good locations I should know about?

Thanks for any help,
J

BTW- the best I have is a 200mm lens.

200MM is going to limit you I am afraid to probably Sunset. You need 400MM for the parking garage. If the light is good you can try shooting rotations from 19L but you may need a little more zoom. LAS is easy to navigate. Drive around it and see what you can find. I have loved walking down Tropicana if you can get the sun right for 19 arrivals, though with 19L closed that may not be so good. Explore, you can find so many spots.

No problem! Once you get to LAS you will see who easy it is to navigate it. In fact if you have the whole day and don't mind walking start at Mandalay and go south on LV Blvd. Before you get to Sunset you will see a bunch of Private jets parked right next to the fence. It will probably be a little easier with a car, park in the Terrible's lot and check things out. Then go to Sunset and make a left. Do the sunset thing, then go to Tropicana and park, it's a little tricky but try the UNLV lot just be careful and park somewhere out of the way it's a permit only lot. Walk to the airport perimeter fence. There is a spot that doesn't have anything blocking your view, you may be able to see the line up for 19R. Enjoy
