Excellent New Spotting Location At PAE

Thu Dec 01, 2005 8:07 am

I wanted to share with the world some good news, a new spotting location, and not only that, but it is very spotter friendly.

The new Future of Flight museum, along with a new hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn, have created something that did not exist before, a west side spotting location at PAE.

As you can see from this picture, it is directly across from the Boeing factory, and they have built several mounds that allow you to look out over the runway without the use of a ladder. My first picture wasn't full frame because I didn't know what focal length to shoot at, but this was about 50mm on my D100.

If you visit this spot please remember to be polite, obey the signs, and DON'T LITTER. Have fun!

Holy cow - you're close! I was up there on Saturday, but didn't think to check out the Future of Fright facility. I scouted around the control tower and down at the south end. From the weather in your shot, I'd say you were there in the last day or two...

Great news!

I will be there next year. HOpefully I see more than just a ex-FedEx 727 with missing engines.

The ex-FedEx 727 has had its nose cut off for use at the Future of Fright facility. Its now sitting on its tail, less nose, next to another noseless 727 on the west side of the field, opposite the fire station.
