Any Chance?

Mon Dec 05, 2005 2:31 am

Hey guys. I've been getting a LOT of rejections because I'm still working off of a 2MP point and shoot Nikon Coolpix. I got three shots accepted into the database by miracle, and now I submitted one last week. It got rejected for NOA_error, so I re-uploaded it. On NikonView it looked sharp, not too grainy, and not too dark, but now that I uploaded it and now that the first one is on myaviation.net, it looks terrible. Does it look ok on your screens? If not, can someone give me advice or offer to try another editing on it? The original is in color, and I decided to try and B&W of it since it's a classic plane. My final question is, should the category for it list it as a classic airliner, or not? I didn't list it, because the description is "Aircraft older than the 707."

Thanks a million guys.

First of all, 1500px is way too wide to be making these photos, especially if you are worried about quality. Start with 1024px, and go from there. That would be the first thing to do. Do you have a copy of the original (from the camera) that we can get a look at?

I resized it and sharpened it a bit, and this is how it turned out. In my opinion, you should submit it in color, and after working with the original, you might be able to get it up to standards.

The quality isn't there. It isn't a classic airliner either. Harry you've oversharpened it way too much, it was already oversharpened a tad. I'd leave it at myaviation because it doesn't have much chance here.

im not a pro infact im not even a photog but from what ive learned is that it is way overshapened on the tail and nose area and its too grainy in the background also theres a bit of deadspace at the bottem that you may want to crop out
You cant have your cake and eat it... What the hells the point in having it then!!!

Thanks for your help guys. Maybe I'll just forget about this one and wait till I can get a decent camera. Harry, check your messages and your school e-mail...

Im not sure what zoom you have used but did you use digital zoom to get closer to the subject.?
It looks that way from what i can see but you may not have.
Its a big NONO using digital zoom as you lose quality straight away and its not actually getting closer to the subject its just magnifying the image.
Good luck with future uploads.
Cheers
