Motiv - Nose Shots Out Of Favour?

Wed Dec 14, 2005 7:32 am

I've recently had these three nose shots rejected for 'motive':

Stock - one might say boring - side shots of all three were accepted. I could go into why I think these shots are interesting and have something to say about the aircraft concerned, but I won't.

So, what's the go with nose shots? Do they have to be exactly nose on to be accepted? I'm at a loss...

Any light-shedding would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Philthy

Phil,

Could it be that you've cropped too close to the aircraft?

Beech - part cropped engine and prop

Pilatus - cropped props

Lynx - Cropped prop.

Any chance you could re-crop to include the props in each case as it might balance the image a bit better.

Cheers!

...but wouldn't look half so dramatic - in fact, if I re-cropped to show the whole prop the shots would suck.

The Beech was a tough crop. The 3:2 ratio doesn't give a nice cutoff on the left side without going out far enough to see the starboard engine, and then the aircraft's so far away the photo loses its point. Not to mention the light, blah, blah, blah.

Any more ideas?

Phil
