TV Usage Request

Sun Dec 18, 2005 3:20 am

Evening All,

I have had a request from a reporter from KTVK TV 3 in Phoenix, Arizona stating that they would like to use one of my photos in a morning newcast.

From the tone of the e-mail it appears that they are wanting my photo for free.

What should I do in this situation? I feel it appropriate that a TV channel pay at least something for photo usage.

Your views and advice in this matter would be appreciated.

The photo they wish to use is this one:-

I definitely wouldnt give it to them for free Simon. I don't know how much to charge though. Maybe $80.00-$100.00 and a photo credit?  Confused

This question of how much to charge has always puzzled me.
Does anyone have any idea how much a TV station such as this would pay a photo agency such as AP or Reuters for a similar image?

If your camera sends text messages, that could explain why your photos are rubbish!
