D200 Availability In The US

Wed Jan 11, 2006 6:48 pm

Hi,

I am planning a small trip to Florida in April to go to Sun n Fun as well as do some spotting at TPA etc.

While I am out there I might just get the overwhelming urge to purchase a D200 Big grin How easy is it to get one out there? Are they in better supply than over here? And if so, where is the best place to go? I bought my D70 in Chicago in one of Ritz Cameras stores, and saved quite a bit on the UK price Big grin

I will be in Tampa, staying at the Holiday Inn near Busch Gardens from 6th to 10th April if anyone fancies a beer or three.

As you may see, it is available. If you ordered direct from the website you don't pay taxes nor S & H >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> http://www.wolfcamera.com/webapp/wcs...10001&langId=-1&productId=13363156

As with most sites/stores, the D200 is sold-out. While I haven't really gone crazy looking for one, everywhere I've tried so far is out-of-stock. I'm sure after they fill all of the pre-orders/waiting lists with first, second and third (maybe more) shipments it'll be available. April should be fine, I guess?

I wish you a better luck in a near future. They are probably sold out for just only a few weeks.

Once again, good luck!

Just make sure you have it around your neck coming through customs, not in the box in your hand luggage.

I'll just hope when I go there that someone has a D200 available. I mean, what is life without hope? Big grin

And if I dont get one, well, I still have my trusty D70 for the airshow and I dont have to explain to the wife why my credit card repayments have suddenly soared Big grin

Andy, seriously you are liable to pay import duty and VAT on arrival at customs. If you post it home, you are also likely not only to get stung for that, but have a Post Office handling fee of £60 to pay on top. Take this into account when you're costing it all out  Smile

Tim.

As you may see, the lack of D200 is temporary and not for a long time.

Basically Wolf and Ritz are the same as you may know. But what it's important is that the availability at these specific retailers will be in about 4 weeks or sooner.

yes, kits are now in supply in many places in the US.
Simple reason is that for some reason Nikon USA is shipping almost exclusively kits when stores have a backlog of bodies to deliver to customers.
The kitlens is far inferior to what most people buying a D200 already have (they'll have pro glass or prosumer glass, the kitlens is the same that comes with the D50) so people aren't buying it. Who wants to pay $300 for a lens he'll never use?

yes, you can buy it if dealers would stock it. But Nikon US ships only kits and dealers have a contractual obligation to not split up those kits.
If they sell the camera separately they can loose their status as a Nikon dealer.

You have to check directly with the store. You can do it through its 800 number or their webpage.

Good luck.

There is no Nikon kit including the 18-200VR at this time. I've heard rumours it may be created in the future though.
Of course retailers can always put together kits of their own, but that usually is restricted to lowend equipment to make packages which look good in advertisements.

I just bought the body as I have enough glass right now, but this is a Nikon boxed kit.
