Help With Response To This Email Please.

Sun Jan 15, 2006 12:32 am

I just got this email this morning from apparently the pilot and owner of this Hawker. He did not leave his name, but he is not happy that there is a photo of him and his plane on the internet for sale without his permission. I know this has been discussed before. Something about being public property, free domain, etc. The shot WAS taken from Tulsa Airport Authority property, the designated observation lot. Am I still in the clear and can tell him to piss off? Nicely of course! Big grin

Here is the email:

Hello...

Not sure who I need to talk to here...but your e-mail came up first....

I am very suprised to find pictures of my airplanes with me flying them for sale on the internet....!!!

How is this legal?

I am not very happy to have this going on with out my knowledge and consent.

You could tell him that there's no problem with your photo being online here, even if it is his aircraft, but you could also tell him that you will pull it from the site if you get the chance to fly with him once in his little Hawker...  Smile

Oh, and why not just cancel the "buy a print" option?

I'm having hallucinations!
What a crap!

Send him an email telling to fly only at night and to avoid any reflections to paint the a/c in black.
When I've opened the photo I was expecting to see his face in front of the window... but where is the pilot??
You take photos of airplanes flying in the air and this is a public property. It was not parked in a private place..

Flo, for my first time I disagree with you ( Amazing Big grin )...

Danny,

It's probably someone having a laugh and being a smartass. My advice to you is to ignore it.

Cheers!

N74ND does not show on the US register as checked with landings.com so tracing the owner is difficult, but the livery looks very reminiscent of that of Flight Options Leasing. the "pilot" claims that it is "his" aeroplane. Unless he's the CEO or business owner its not really any of his business, is it ?

Some people will go to amazing lengths to make a buck or two !

Tell him that the picture was taken in the public domain and that you hold the image copyright. If he doesn't like the image being sold ask if he would care to purchase the copyright for a suitable one off fee. I'm sure you could think of one !

Here's some unconfirmed info I found:

c/n - 258063
model - 800A

Previous Regs
G-5-518 N367BA N74ND

Owner(?) - GECC

I then found that a Hawker 800 with the same c/n (258063) is currently registered to Tulsair Beechcraft, Inc, under N391TC. Strange.

Either ignore it, or simply respond to his/her question and explain how it's legal.
