BadCenter Rejection...

Mon Jan 16, 2006 5:17 am

Evening all,

I'm looking for some feedback on the below image that got rejected for Bad Center.

I've just measured the image in photoshop and it's pretty much centered in the frame. Am I missing something here?

Best Regards,

Yep, missing the tail.... at least I think that is the reason.

I think that you have to contact one of the screeners than... I have no further idea what it could be. I must say that I like the colors very much !

The centering looks awkward, but it is definately not level (needs some CCW).

Hi Tamsin,

Thanks for the reply.
I've just had a look at the image in photoshop, and am trying to why you think it needs some CCW rotation. I've used guide lines against different verticals in the frame.

Cheers,

Simon.

Edit: Sorry, can't get the image any bigger!

No, I think it's just where it's not in focus.

In the two accepted examples, the runway is lower than in the rejected pic, and I do think the rejected pic looks unbalanced.

When you cut the tail, that should be done for a reason, ie the plane should fill most of the picture.

In your accepted examples, the whole fin would not fit in the frame even when the a/c was lower in the frame, while in the rejected pic it might fit. This is not a rule or something, but I think it goes some way in explaining what's wrong.

This is, in any case, a completely wrong way of looking at the problem, in my opinion. Measuring this or that distance gets you nowhere. The problem is that your subject is not a rectangular shape, it's an L shape. Even when you crop half the fin out, you can't simply ignore the fact that there's such a thing on most aircraft (a huge fin even in the case of the 737-600).

Of course you can. Or all shots on a.net would be full-figure aircraft.

I'm not saying you can never cut the fin. Read.

I agree.

About the centering, could you include the whole fin in the frame and see how it looks?

After all that work, reupload it and wait for your quality rejection...

Cheers
