How To Do When Registered Info Is Bad Info?

Thu Jan 26, 2006 5:20 am

Hi again everybody,

I have made another mistake with a Private Prop and had a photo rejected for wrong INFO.
There were already two photos in db, so I just filled in registration and airport and worried only about quality and such problems. All other facts were already filled in automatically.

But obviously this Piper has been sold in the meantime, and I should have labeled it Untitled and erased the former flying club owner in the Operator field and written the flying club only in the Remarks field.

Let me quote from instructions on upload page
5. Untitled aircraft not operated by an airline or charter company, but owned by private persons, business companies, flying clubs, aircraft sale companies, broker companies, etc. will be listed as "Untitled". If you want to supply owner or operator details these shall be listed in the Remarks field.

But I notice some inconsistency among photos already in db.

Have rules changed recently?

Maybe I am the only at who have made this mistake - twice so far. Or what?

Hope to hear some response from You,

Yes this happens that's what we Editors are for. However standardizing the Airlines name on Pipers is very far down the "to do" list.

No, just this one was caught by the screener and rightly rejected. (assuming it was rejected for the Airline name)

Hi again and thanks very much, Corey, for such a quick response.

I hope that my first post was not taken in any way as a criticism of Airliners or the screeners job.

On the contrary I meant to point to the fact that uploaders should be more careful to double check the information already registered in db.

But sometimes this has been very difficult. Even after hours of Internet research I was not sure who was the owner of this plane:
I did my best and photo was accepted.

A couple of times I have sent letters with corrections, but I am not sure what to do with a photo say one year old. Maybe the db want the information to be correct at the date of the photo taken?

And can someone tell me if there is a mistake somewhere with HA-LPB, accepted in db both as
Airbus A320-233
Airbus A320-232

Thanks again in advance for any input,

Hi Frippe.

First off - HA-LPB is an A320-232. I find this site is excellent for clarifying stuff like this. It is a very thorough database for airliner information, and is regularly updated. Go to the relevant database - CTRL + F on your keyboard brings up the 'Find' function, type in the registration and Bob's your uncle (to use a very non-Swedish phrase! - sorry - I should say "there you have it/all will be revealed/voila" etc etc  biggrin  ).

I think the editors are always grateful for users sending them corrections. Clearly they have a mammoth job to do, as it is no joke trying to correct all the errors that uploaders have put into the database over the years. I think it is always a good idea to look at all the information that the Auto Complete function produces. I can't speak for GA aircraft, but certainly when the function produces a choice of things like specific aircraft type, c/n etc then the site above is the best place to check out these things.

I hope this helps.

All the best.
