Need Some Opinions

Wed Feb 08, 2006 2:16 pm

Hi guys,

I have two inflight pics in the queue but I need to pull one of them. I could not decide between the two so I am hoping you can help me decide with your opinions/comments.

pic1: Not sure if there is enough "airplane"?

Hi kaz,
For some reason I like pic 1 -
Needed amount of aircraft present  checkmark
Motive of showing NY  checkmark

Just a personal preference.

To me the first one really runs the risk of NOA_motiv, but I dunno

The second one has a few jaggies on the lower leading edge of the wing and the wingtip looks funky. Maybe my monitor but try getting rid of the other jaggies and fixixng the winglet.

Good luck

I agree with Matt but could add that for me they need a little more snap.
The haze gets to aerial photos especially around a big city like NYC.
Try a little haze removal.
Open the picture in PS at final resolution (1024 or whatever) and apply what may seem like some radical USM
Amount- 20-30%
Radius- 30-60
Threshold- 4

This may seem extreme but it actually doesn't apply any sharpening as such but does reduce haze effects. (and adds some snap to the contrast)

Best of luck

PS ..experiment a little
If your camera sends text messages, that could explain why your photos are rubbish!

I really think that the second one is better for The first one is all mainly a window view of a city and not showing much to do with aviation. Don't get me wrong I really like both shots.

I like the second one too has more aviation related things present eg wing and engine. If it were me though (and this is a personal thing) I would not accept the shots to as they are both basically city overviews, nothing overly aviation related there.

Number two also as mention needs jaggies fixed, especially on the winglet.

But as I said, I like the shots and wish to one day see NYC. Go for shot 2. I think it has a better chance out of the two.
