What To Do To Improve......

Fri Mar 03, 2006 1:38 am

Hi all,

What can I do to improve this pic, taken today on departure from Inverness.Weather was glorious with a healthy amount of snow on the ground helping the lighting conditions.

Nothing done to this original apart from resizing.

Nice shot!  Smile

You might want to try a different crop, one that's tighter around the aircraft.

Center it, crop a little, play with the levels ever so slightly (being careful not to overexpose, it is borderline already near the nose), and use a duplicate layer to sharpen. Select all the sky, invert and sharpen the aircraft, then use the eraser to blend the jaggies. Looks good.

Hi Andy.

You do have some nice lighting there.

I agree with the comments above - you will definitely need a closer crop. I was going to have a go editing what you posted, but I see that the size of the image is rather small (800 x 600). I may be missing something here, and it may be due to the site that hosts your photo, but you will need a larger file for any upload here.

I would be happy to have a go at an edit if you would like, so you can compare with what I come up with - just let me know via my profile.

Cheers.

Thanks guys for all your comments.

I purposely uploaded at 800x600 to reduce bandwidth and save time. The original is a lot bigger and I have been working on it most of the afternoon, trying different techniques and tips from your comments.

Hopefully the finished result will get accepted.

Regards
Andy
