Oversharpened, Struggling With New Monitor

Hi,

I just put three pictures in the queue. I processed them using my new TFT screen and they look good on that screen.

However, when switching back to my old monitor they look a bit jagged and oversharpened. Can you give me some feedback so I can, if necessary, rework and re-upload.

The first two look fine to me.

On the third shot (which is a beautiful shot) I see very slight jaggies on the trailing edge of the inboard flap.

I would have cropped a bit larger to include the wheels ...

Hi Diezel,

I'm on my works monitor, a 15" Dell TFT. They look a little oversharpened on here. The JAL is my favourite though not sure if cropping out the gear will work in your favour. Also looks a tad dark, but that is most likely down to my monitor here. What monitor and resolution are you running?

I share the same feeling... however, I would also try (on the third one - which is my favorite) to crop the wheels out (they seem to be blurred anyway because of the hot exhaust gasses...

On my new 19 inches flat screen, the three photos are looking good.

Hi Roel,

I could see a little bit jaggies in the first shot. The second one and the third one look good.

And I think the LCD monitor may generate slight sharper image than CRT monitor. So it's a bit easier to find jaggies on LCD monitor.

Thanks a lot for the feedback guys!

I did some more experimenting today and found out the following:

The higher the resolution, the less jaggies seem to appear. The pictures looked best on those small high-res laptop lcd screens and high-end LCD 1600x1200 screens. The only thing I can think of is that the distance between the pixels cause the difference.

Hi Roel,

On my 19" flatscreen the first one look jagged and oversharpened.
The other two look fine on my screen  Wink

I like the JAL shot Roel  bigthumbsup

First shot may need some attention. Looks a tad oversharpened.

Second on seems fine to me.

Third one is just awesome. I checked the histogram on that one. It looks a bit underexposed here on my screen. Levels are all ok but still seems a tad dark. May should ok but a super shot and the best out of the three.
