Help On A Few Rejections, Please!

Thu Apr 06, 2006 5:47 am

Been well over a year since I uploaded anything, I think. Proof that I'm very rusty!

http://www.airliners.net/procphotos/...ilename=20060405_f15-headinout.jpg
The above was rejected for badinfo as well as quality. I don't see where either come into play, can anyone help? It was also listed as too soft, would there be anything else? I don't understand where the info is wrong, but if it is I really want it corrected. I don't think it's in the database yet. Should it be 78-546 or 78-0546? Am I missing something?

http://www.airliners.net/procphotos/...lename=20060405_f16-vrb-flyby2.jpg
The above two were quality rejections. Any suggestions for those? Is the info correct for each plane as well?

Above was due to bad distance.. I really want to see this one make it so I will play with the cropping, but can anyone see anything else that would keep it from getting uploaded?

"Blue" got nixed for being too soft. Any specific area to be sharpened or just a pass or two needed?

Thanks everyone. I will post reworks here with the hopes of seeing some new additions to my dust-collecting gallery. Also, you feel any would not pass at all, I will scratch them from the list.

Just had a quick look at your first photo (I'm on a modem). The photo is soft and, I think, a touch blurry on the nose. You could maximise your chances of acceptance if you upload at 1024 pixels wide.

Yes the serial is 78-0546. Looking it up on www.scramble.nl tells you it's an F-15C, manufacturer's construction number 538/C079. Screeners know this sort of info is available so they like to see it entered.

Good luck,
Charles

I think your biggest enemy is the size of your images. They are a tad soft which can be easily corrected. Try reworking them from scratch and give it some more USM and some selective sharpening as well, resize down to 1024 x ... and you shoul be fine. Love the F-15 afterburners shot.

I agree so make them 1024 x ??? as mentioned. That will help alot more.

Okay, I'm going back and correcting.

Here is "Blue," sharpened and shrunk down to 1024x758: http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/b...g/ready/two-of-hearts-side1024.jpg
Good, or should she be tossed from Q?

The F-15 afterburner shot, trying again but not yet uploaded to the a.net Q. Suggestions? It seems like it's still not quite up to par.

That looks way better, maybe needs a little bit of vertical alignment so you have same spacing from the wings to the edge to make it perfect.

It still is a bit soft especially around the canopy.

"Blue" made it on, thanks, everyone! Soon it'll be back to the drawing board for the rest.

I think I'm going to keep my own thread, rather than clutter the place with multiples. These are what I have in the queue now, let me know if any should be ditched and reworked.

OK, here goes.

(1) Yes, I think this needs a bit more selective sharpening towards both sides of the picture. I suspect you didn't have enough depth of field to take in the sides of the instrument panel.

(2) Slight underwing noise but I'd leave in the queue.

(3) Overexposed wing leading edges. You can try to fix, either by adjusting levels or through some judicious application of the burn tool if you have Photoshop, or else take your chances in the queue.

(4) Slight jaggies on my monitor at least, but I would venture to say acceptable and I'd leave in the queue.

I'm not a screener, so take everything I say with a good pinch of salt ...

I ended up taking out #3 but I left the rest, and the green plane got rejected for qual/distance and the other two just bad quality. Back to the drawing board. :P

First order of business, check my camera's settings to ensure proper depth of field!
