Bad Motivs?

Thu Apr 20, 2006 10:49 am

Currently I am contemplating about submitting two photos that I took at MAD last year.

1st shot: (bad-motiv?)

2nd shot: (bad centering, light, objects in the way?)

I also have this shot in the queue: (probably bad-motiv and quality)

Any thoughts?

At least pull the last one from the que... Odd crop, unlevel, way to dark and probably bad motive.

The others... if these are the crops you have in mind, neither will get in. As far as motives, I'm not sure... First is rather badlit and second one is just poorly cropped and its unlevel. In these states, I wouldn't hope for much out of any of these.

Just my 2 cents

The first one is backlit.

The second one has too much stuff in the foreground.

What is the subject of the third one?

I would suggest that you remove all three from the queue as none will make it.
The centreing on the top shot could be improved by taking a slice off the top, The subject is backlit which is not, in itself, a reason for rejection but the exposure needs to be absolutely spot on. This is almost right but the highlights have gone just a touch too far. The cropped engine also looks clumsy.
That lovely Southern Winds Jumbo looks to me as though it needs a lot of CW rotation. Again, the centreing could be improved by taking a slice off the sky. If you go for a minimum image size of about 1024 x 683, that tends to suit aircraft in that it is long and thin and only go much above the 683 when the subject composition needs it.
The last one is a good try but is too dark and the horizon is not level either (not easy from aircraft)
