Critique On A Few New Uploads Please

Tue Apr 25, 2006 3:28 am

Evening all,

Well on Sunday we had our best day since last summer. Well for me anyway. Spent a few ours at the local. Theres just a few i'm not too sure about.

I think this might be a little too soft and dark. But I like it. What you think?

I wanted to show the other Q400 rotating. The other shots in the sequence are a little out of focus(my fault). It seems balanced to me but what do you all think?

Last one....

Was a little unsure with this one concerning the titles. I have sharpened the image but not sure if this has made the titles jaggy?

Thanks for all the comments folks

They look fine to me Colin.

I understand why you cropped the Dash8 like that, but it might be frowned upon by the screener for having those bits in the bottom of the frame.

Quality-wise they are good. The titling of the Star Alliance livery is always a pain, but there don't seem to be any major jaggies on glancing.

Regards,

Tim.

Hello Colin.

I hope things are going well for you.

On the first shot, I would agree that it does look slightly soft. For example, those flaps could be sharper.

For the Dash-8, it's a nice idea, but I am not convinced that you have the quality in the main subject - for example, the wings look slightly heat hazed.

And the last - Tim is right that the Star Alliance livery is a real pig to look good. But here again I feel there is some slight evidence of heat haze, and those wings look a little soft again.

As ever, if you want to see what I produce, just send anything along.

All the best.

Hey Colin,

Nice shots however i have a few problems with them.

The first is nice but seems to have a bit too much contrast on my screen. I think with less contrast it would be easier to sharpen better which would reduce softness.

The second is good and i like the crop but is there a little bit of heathaze in it?

The last one looks good, but i would say re edit it to 1024x683 and the sharpening problem will be a little less aparrent.

Good luck with the images!

Chris
