Just Wanted To Share A Nice Moment

Sun Apr 30, 2006 1:47 am

Hi to all of you.

Earlier this year when nights still where freezing cold in Paris I took a shot of a Saudi 747SP. It doesn't look special during daylight if you cannot get as close as you need to see the shiny engine inlet cowlings. But have a look on it at night. The sound of those old engines (is that what has been called a JT9?) is very loud and has the most soaring bass I've ever experienced. I stood 100m behind this one as they started the engines. The idle power put me into a cloud of kerosene and dust. Man! No other aircraft has such a strong jet blast at idle. Later I saw her passing by at the so called "donut" at T2. I grabbed my cam, put it on the main landing gear tire of my TAM A330 and took this shot. Please note the wonderful colors of the lighted tail in composition with the taxiway lights. The beacon on this one is not flashing but turning like on the fire trucks.

Sorry Airbus. You sure built economical planes and know how to improve your product. But a flying computer cannot please me with a moment like this. Maybe I'm to old-minded for all those screens and circuit breakers...
